This annual event I have attended for the previous two years always draws a crowd of MN12 fanatics and includes Lincoln Mark VIIIs. I've been asked to invite all the Lincolns to partake in the annual show/race event held at the Mason Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown, MD. In addition to the Mason Dixon All-Ford Event a separate show and picnic will be sponsored by the MidAtlantic MN12 club. It makes for a great weekend.
Here we go. Are we ready?? Summer Blast is now heading your way!
This year we will be holding our Annual Joel Bender Memorial Nats -SB V, on August 26 - August 27th, 2006. The name has changed in honor of our longtime friend/member Joel Bender who passed away this year after a long bout with cancer. We will still call it Summer Blast for short so as to not confuse anyone.
The itinerary is shaping up and right now looks to be on track for this event.
Saturday: We will have our Car show and Picnic with Trophies and prizes to be given out per class. It will be held once again at Lambert pool, Next to the Berkeley County Rec Center, Martinsburg WV, Same place as last year. Time will be 10:00 AM with the Car show starting at 11:00 AM. The Judging will be over at 1:00 PM. We will start the picnic portion at 1:00 PM also. Trophies will be presented based on turnout and registration around 2:30-3:00. The cost for the Saturday car show and Cookout is $5.00 per person. This is to help cover costs, Food, Trophies, Rental, etc. There is a pool available at the park. Those that want to swim etc will have to pay at the gate for that if you plan to use it.
Reservations MUST be made by NLT AUG 20, 2006. You can do that by contacting Jason Miller or myself. All monies will be sent to Jason via paypal or Check. He will post on here shortly as to how/where to send it.
** Parents- You may bring your children to this event. However, I ask all of you as always to please monitor and control your children. We care for our cars as you do your children and we don't want any issues.**
Saturday Evening - Is optional. (1) There will be a Car Cruise over to Hagerstown Mall for those that want to attend. Best to be there by 6 PM. You can stay as long as you like but Generally it starts winding down about 9 PM. (2) The MA-ADT will be holding its annual "Who can hang out the longest" nite on the town. Chris Vining and Tim Groth will be in charge of that entertainment for those that are interested. I'll have seperate threads for these as well to get counts ahead of time.
Sunday - We will meet in Martinsburg (TBD) to cruise as a group to Hagerstown Mason Dixon Dragway, for their ALL FORD EVENT. Those who want to show instead of race should contact www.masondixondragway.com for further instructions and details. The folks drag racing will sign in and register to run. The cost for the drag racing will be approximately $30 dollars (Car and Driver). Spectators I believe will be $10 dollars or less.
Those racing must insure that they have the proper safety equipment for E.T. and no short pants are allowed in the drag race portions. Shirts must also have sleeves and no Muscle shirts allowed during competition. WE WILL BE RUNNING IN OUR OWN CLASS which will be T-Birds, Cougars, Lincolns, Marauders of any years. Mostly its just us but sometimes the locals will have a few there as well. Gives the Mustang folks a Chance to sit and watch us (Barges)strut our stuff!!!!
Once the track event is over Mason Dixon will award trophies to the car show participants and the drag racing folks in our bracket. More will be discussed on that later.
There is already a seperate post on our www.mamn12.com site for the room reservations. Once those are gone, you will be on your own.
Looking forward to a great turnout and seeing everyone here.
