i'm looking to show off my other baby, my 93 mark viii. i live in michigan and i want to know if there is anyone who has done it, can do it, or could tell me what i need to do it. i know there is some way!
THANKS
RITCHIE

Yes, it has been done, but it's not simple.

94M5 has done it. And I believe there might be someone else who has too.

It's an incredibly amount of work, requiring a good deal of custom fabrication and creativity. Most of the donor parts would be coming from the T-bird SuperCoupe.

Ok,first off, why do you want a manual trans? If you want control of your shifts, you could just install a manual valve body into the automatic trans.

Ive heard of this. Would you care to explain?

A full manual valvebody simply puts the trans in whatever gear the shifter is in. If the shifter is in 3rd, you're in 3rd. It's a poor replacement for an actual manual transmission, as you still have the drawbacks of an auto and lose the benefit of being able to just stick it in drive and go.

Yes, 94m5 has done this as to his name 94m (manual) 5 (5 speed)..

JD drives it mostly from what I hear and he get 32 to 33 miles per gallon. (I should have said the Calabrio - you'll be putting in a manual tranny now). LOL

I am not sure if 94m5 is bringing the 94 with him to the Meet this coming weekend as he has to leave one of his Marks at home to bring my 94 back with him. So he'll have 2 of his 3 Mark VIII's his 94, 95, or 98.

well unless all you do is drag race - then it can be an advantage. like a ratchet shifter.

i'm bored with automatic! i love manuals and i need to replace the tranny anyway, reverse went out in the trans. i would like to find out how to do it, or someone who would do it for me. to me, an automatic trans in a markviii is like an automatic in a porsche, what's the point. i've always loved sticks, my mini truck toyota is a stick, i want my mark to be one, but my 98 aurora is an automatic, but that's alright.

Don't attempt this unless you have half a brain, a big wallet, and a lot of patience. When it was all said and done I don't think it was worth it. Check out some of my pics.

you can always go with a transgo shift kit. It has a manual valve that forces the trans to stay in what ever gear you want it to. Other wise if you leave it in drive it functions normally. I am running that kit it works really well. It was to bad transgo does not often update there instructions but once I got that sorted out. it works perfectly.:D nice firm shifts to boot ! ! ! :Beer

very true.

mine has the manual valve bodies, and i will never shift on the street, especially no downshifting...but at the track, its a godsend.

thanks guy, i've been looking over the instructions and things and it's quite overwhelming! i've done tranny's a few times but this is crazy. so for now, i'm going to just stick with what i have. my tranny now has no Reverse. does anyone know how i'd fix that or rather how much a fix like that would cost? my brother blew out reverse this winter trying to get the car out of the snow.
