Ive been looking around at clutch kits for my 01 v6 with the manual getrag tranny. Ive ready probably every thread on here i could find about it. Im just wondering if the clutch kits listed for my car ive seen on rockauto are worth getting, or if anyone has experience replacing their stock clutch with one of these kits from rockauto, the brands i was looking at are LUK and Exedy. Thanks in advance for any input. Just wanna have a clutch, bearings and slave cylinder ready for when i need it, and maybe a flywheel(either oem or maybe jag from what ive seen?)
Thanks,
Nate

I can't speak for the aftermarket kits, I went with Ford OEM for everything - except the flywheel, which is NLA from Ford. You can get the flywheel from Jaguar though.

Thanks for the reply. I think the clutch on here is original, with 140k. Think id be lucky to get another 15k if thats the case, considering others experiences. I know theres gotta be some who went aftermarket, and ill patiently wait for their responses.

I have done the LUK kit. No issues whatsoever and the price was perfect! You'll need to get your hands on a pilot bearing though. It is not included in the kit. I was able to get my flywheel re-surfaced and there were no problems in getting that done, I just had to go to a place that could handle the dual mass flywheel. I can't produce the pilot bearing part number at this moment, but it's on this forum somewhere... Get it ahead of time. I think I ended up buying mine from Amazon. It really fits an Audi or VW application, but it is the right one. Ford never listed it, it was considered to be part of the flywheel!

Nate,

I don't know how your car has been driven, but I drove my '00 for 175,000 miles with no clutch issues. I know the next owner is still driving it and I have not heard that they have had to replace the clutch yet.

I think you are smart to grab up the parts now while you still can. We MTX owners seen to have less choices as time goes on.

Alright thanks guys. Ive got no problems with my clutch at the moment. Previous 2 owners must not have beaten on it too much. I just like to have parts like that on hand that i know ill need if i keep the car for a while, like im planning. Hate waiting on parts and having to bum rides around when something like that needs servicing. Seems like rockauto has some very reasonable prices on clutch kits also, as i was not expecting. Thanks again.
