you need a 1/4" ratchet. Take it and put it in the intake tube "screw" that bolts the tube to the throttle body, and try to get it outa there without having to take off the cowl piece. When i first got my car i had the same problem. It was the plug wires. If you get new wires, get some good wires, not the economy ones.

Btw, lemme guess...your a fan of the 74 trans am 455SD?

I'm going outside to give it a whirl.....thanks alot!!!.....i was figuring on just getting wires from ford........ BTW yea I'm a fan of SD455 trans ams....know anyone with parts or whole cars for sale?

Motorcraft wires are over 100 dollars for this engine. Might as well go with MSD. Here are some pictures to better explain the taking off of your TB tube...

You have to obviously disconnect your TB tube elbow from the airbox, Then you'll see a 10mm bolt IIRC. Then, Toward the firewall, i believe you'll need a 1/4 drive ratchet (no need for sockets), you must loosen that and also take the cowl panel above that off so the back of the TB tube will clear it and allow room for it to be pulled out.

I have the 9MM Motorcraft wires on my car and I got them from Max @ 5 Star Ford (1-800-866-1520 ext.236) for a decent price. Give him a call.

I got generic wires for $65 and they perform well enough to propel my stock Mark into the 14.6's. For a stock car they should work well enough.
