Mark VIII sounds like rusty door hinges when turning right

Hi just changed my Wheel Hubs on My 98 Mark sounded like a Jet while I had the wheels off Inspected all the other bushings and ball joints. Upper control arms were bad and wobbly so I put it off til the next day on the way to get parts (about 30 miles driving) it sounded like a door creaking very loud was coming from under the car when I turned (not Lane switching) Right and left turns from a stop sign type turns. Picked up the new upper control arms replaced them (that was fun) it still makes the noise though somewhat quieter and only when I am making a right hand turn now. Rotated the tires checked air pressure pulled back off rotor caliper and such, put them back on
still makes the noise. Their is no shake in the wheel no crunching metal to metal when I go over pot holes and bumps all very quiet no jet sound driving on the highway but as soon as I make a stop / right hand turn I get the dreaded creak. as I said before I checked the LCA struts and other bushings they all look actually to be in very good condition no shimmy no shake no movement. The only thing that I see that I didnt like was the rotor before the hub change was stuck to the hub now there is movement in it but I would say that when the tire is tightened down that would eliminate that problem as the tire would sandwhich the rotor to the hub. I am at a complete loss for this. I have to put it back together each time to drive it to check for noises because it wont do it sitting still turning the wheel it has to be driving. Also I replaced the tabs on the drivers side wheel well cover (because I had to take it out to get the the UCA back bolt. I thought that might be rubbing in the turn and that wasnt it then I thought the shield was rubbing the rotor or the rim somehow in the turn but I dont see rub marks anywhere , not the tire not the rim not the wheel cover and not the dust shield for the rotor
please help Im at a loss.

My car was doing that same thing. I just used some lithium spray to troubleshoot. Sprayed all the bushings and whatnot, It actually took a few miles of driving for the lube to work in but its nice and quiet now. I may need bushings in the future but it'll hold off till spring. Way to cold here in RI to be doing that silliness without a garage.

I didnt see anything loose under it is there another way to check the rack?
I sprayed it with Litium Greese this morning its still doing it. It never made this sound until I changed the hubs and I thought the UCAs were doing it when I saw them bad but that wasnt it either

Sounds like your rack might be bad. Check your P/S fluid and lube your tie rod ends.

I have a wierd possibility my 98 LSC had a similar sound, the chome had peeled so bad on the back of the rim it would scrape the caliper when turning. I would take the wheel off - look around for obvious stuff -grease all the joints, etc. Nothing mattered till I decided to clean both sides of the rim before putting back an suddenly I saw this huge chuck of chrome sticking out. Wierd - but ya never know with these Marks...

check your lowerball joints and tie rod ends, ive never seen a rack do that unless its loose but that will do it sitting still, get a grease gun with a needle tip pierce the boot on the ball joints and fill it with grease if the noise is still there do the same with the tie rod ends and when ever the noise stops thats your bad part and you shouldent have to take the car apart a bunch of times if you dont have a grease gun find a shop and tell what you want to do, but be sure to tell them only the joints or the ends at a time if they do both and the noise goes away then you dont know which part is faulty. this will fix the prob and it will be one of the two components

mine does that now and leaks ps fluid.. how much is it to get the rack fixed or do i need a new one, whats the deal

I had my rack done twice (part went bad after the first time) and I believe it was like 140 or so for the part and 150 for labor.
