Mark VIII v. 2 should've been called Mark IX

sure, i see what you mean...
the relation between the Mark 8 and version 2 is kinda like the Mark IV and Mark V.
but, it wasn't a huge change like the Mark 7 to the 8...

Here is the Concept Mark IX and Mark X

Same platform, same engine, same body, same everything, why would it be a Mark IX?

I don't personally know anyone, besides me, who could even tell the difference between a 1st and a 2nd gen. I have to explain to them that the headlights look larger, there may be no chrome on the grill, etc. They don't even notice the difference between a 93 and a 98 LSC with the painted door moldings.

Oh. And when I replaced my 91 LSC with my 96 LSC last summer, one girl actually said to me: "Wow! You painted your car red!" She couldn't see the difference between a 91 and a 96 Lincoln.

Okay, I was with you til then. . .

Well, it was just an example. As I said, she's a girl.. what does she know anyway.

at last years auto show lincoln had a nice a$$ truck bult of the F150 and they called it the mark X. that was a cool concept, but the new car desines for a mark IX and X are so cool I want one, if they get a way from that 3.8L or whateaver small V8. they need to make some big power.

No, the truck was called the Mark LT and best I know, that is slated for production as a 2006 model. There was a Mark IX concept that would just be way too cool from the 2002 auto show, but nothing has happened with it since (or the continental concept, which is the one I'm really hoping for the most) Then in 03 or 04, they unveiled the Mark X concept which looked basically like a shrunk, coupe version of the 02 Conti concept with a different grille and headlights which I liked less than the 02 concepts.

Lincoln is standing on a precipice right now. Cadillac is moving upmarket, and Lincoln has the potential to follow suit, if they would just release these concepts they have cooking, but if they sit on them and just stick with what they have now, then the days of Lincoln and Cadillac being direct competition (Lincoln vs. Cadillac) will be over and Caddy will now be duking it out with Jaguar and Lincoln will be left fending off Buick which is supposedly also moving upmarket to occupy the space that cadillac once did.

What they should do is move Lincoln up to continue it's age old war with the big C while Mercury moves up to where Lincoln was to keep up the fight against long time rival, Buick... what do you think?
