I found a MotorTrend magazine from august 1992 and it has an article on the lincoln marque X. For those of you that dont know what it is. Its the Orange tangerine pearl convertible that ford made before the actual production mark even came out.

sure...look at the gallery at Lincolnmotorsport.com . its in there.

In the article they mention "A"-generation engines which came in the marque, and "D"-generation engines that come in production marks. What is the difference?

well that was prolly written before the intro of the mod 4.6, so im guessing the 2v was the A and the D was the 4v

Nope! The 4.6 DOHC was revealed in 92'. The mark VIIIs were released in fall of 92', a month or two after this magazine was put on shelves.

"A" generation engines probably had the "A" heads that never made it to production. Ever wonder why the 93-98 heads are called "B" heads? They are the second type of 4V head made by Ford, the 1st "A" head design never made it to production.

In the article, they state that the new mark viii will be released with a "D" generation engine.
