Anybody have any ideas or info why someone would remove and tape up the plug that goes to the master cylinder. At least they hid it under the strut cover. I just met a newer MK VIII owner, and have been trying to help him out. Of course I'm trying to get him to join LVC. He has a real nice MK VIII LSC, around 100K, red/ tan. We plugged it in, and it seemed OK. Don't know if recalls have been done yet. Thanks TONYyyy

I can only think of the deactivation switch.

I remember at the time they didn't have the "fix" so you could take your car in and they would simply unplug it, then you would bring it in later for the fix. It is simply a fusible link added in I think. I don't remember what car I had at the time but I wired in the fusible link AND changed it to key on only (it is always powered for some reason).

the cruise switch isn't near the master cylinder on these cars.

only plug actually on the master cylinder i can think of is the fluid level sensor.

and possibly the pedal travel sensor, but its actually on the booster.
