How do you go about cryo plating or what ever its called to the transmissions?

How likely is it to swap a 4.2 SCed Jaguar motor, tranny, and rear end from the S or X Type R's

And how about the all wheel drive set up from the X type.

Not sure how anything from the X type would fit the S-types chassis.

The idea of fitting type R parts is an intriging prospect......it's components should work.....not sure the source to verify this with however. I'd love to know the result!

I think you're looking at too much work for it to be practical... unless you have virtually unlimited resources. There isn't that much which is compatable between the LS and the S type in the realm of electronics, so you'd be fighting a never ending problem getting everything to run right.

oh i see, well i am just guessing that the six speed would handle a little more power than the LS as well as the rear end.

How likely do you think that is to bolt up and work out?

You have another interested vote here. I really hate this cars gearbox.....it more or less tarnishes an otherwise nice car.

The ZF transmissions handling the 4.2l V8 Jags don't seem to be doing that well either - http://www.thelurch.com/ - that site pretty much put me off from getting an S-Type R.

Unless someone can convince me that a 40k mile s-type r is worth another 5 years of car pmts (the LS is done in a year) with all of the electrical B.S. that happens, I'll just upgrade the exhaust on the LS and install a double din nav unit.

Hmmm, but what about any other model rearwheel drive jag with that motor, theoreticaly it would bolt up right? XK XJ maybe
