Hello fellas.

This thread has nothing to do with a Lincoln LS but I just wanted to share with you my experience.

A friend of mine just purchased a brand new black on black 2006 Mercedes G55 AMG Grand Edition. That is a special package limited production SUV, only 500 are made and his is number 235 (there is a little metal plate that says so in the front of the gear knob).

He just bought it three days ago and yesterday we went for a ride in it on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, and all I have to say is wow, what a car... The sound that its 469hp engine makes is just amazing, just straight rumbling. The car had only over 100 miles on it so he wasn't pushing it much, but I could really feel its power. The ride was really rough but still acceptable for a 25 year old chassis that that car has. But the most impressing was the reaction that it was getting from other drivers and the people on the streets, everybody were just staring at us. That car turned heads harder than that same guy's 06 black 750LI on 22" black Lowenhart wheels.

I know that car is whole lot of money (total came up to $125,000), but I think it is one of the most impressive vehicles that money can buy.

Here I found a video of a G55, enjoy.

I've had a couple of the 55 series cars (not the G model) try and fool around with me on the freeway when I'm in my Cobra. Believe me...they are nothing to sneeze at. Those things are flat amazing. Great car. I want to drive a 65 series in the worst way. Turbos, a LOT more hp...amazing.

By the way, I saw an add the other day where some guy was offering a pulley and tune for the 55 series cars. The cost was a mere $13,000!!! I about fell off my chair!

A friend of mines dad has the I think 65 with the v12 twin turbo. He sent it off to redline and is making a little over 700hp at the wheels, but it will still not hang with his brand new zo6 at a 1/2 of the price.

My father in law has a blk on blk ML55 AMG, that is just scary...A SUV that has that much power, we have had all kinds of ppl as if it's really an AMG, I dont think many were made. He got it at a steal too...he only paid 65k for it. Some other guy had and couldn't afford it, so the dealer snagged it back and offered it to my father in law, because he couldn't find one anywhere.

If ya ever bring that Cobra up to to the northern midwest, I'll race ya with my little ol SUV. :D

While I am impressed with the technology, engineering and performance I just can't get past the fact that thing is UGLY! I guess it's just my age or something but that thing looks like an old Tonka Jeep toy. I can find much better ways to spend that kind of money myself, provided I even had that kinda of money to spend on a vehicle. :D

Damn, that's expensive. Maybe it's just me, but I've never seen a foreign SUV that I even remotely liked.

I like the BMW X5 4.8 V8's w/ the factory 20's on em but that is about it too. Most of the other ones may be fast, but they usually look weird.

That would be fun!!! The car has only been to the track once...it ran an 11.88 at just over a buck twenty. I know there's at least another tenth in the car if I could get it out of the desert and down to sea level with some decent air. Right now, I'm really debating whether or not to Whipple the car or just wait for the GT500 and sell it. The damn things are holding their value like crazy!!

But for a car I drive almost every day, I think that is outstanding performance. And it has absolutely impeccable street manners. It idles as smooth as a baby's butt and drives just like grandma's car....until you stick your foot in it! :D

With the price your going to pay for the GT500 right now I would suggest that you just hold onto the Cobra ya got now and throw a Kenne Bell or Whipple on it.

There is nothing more amazing than hearing that twin screw scream coming from the hood of your own car. First time I took the Kenne Bell Explorer out after I got her dynotuned and then detuned I was coming out of the Ford parking lot and got in the gas maybe 1/4 throttle and the entire truck screamed and did a 180 right there. Luckily it was nighttime out so no one else was around. If you love the instant torque of the roots on the Cobra then you will love it even more with a twin screw in place of it.

Sorry.....back on topic...

The twin screw will definitely be a Whipple if I go that route. That new one is flat awesome! But I have nothing bad to say about the KB either. Tried and proven. But I'll never have one. I have a very serious issue with Jim Belle and his customer service. Burn me once shame on you...burn me twice...well, I won't give them the chance.

You are totally right about the KB customer service! It is horrid. About the only person I ever felt like talking to over there was Lisa. Everyone else either didn't know what they were talking about, plain stupid, or rude. Most of their workers don't know a crap about their own product, so when I asked them a few simple tech questions they gave me wrong info. Great product, terrible company. Its cool though, with my type of install I didn't expect them to be able to help much if I did have a problem.

You know what's a shame about that? It makes all their incredible research and development questionable. How can you trust that when you can't trust a word they tell you over the phone. Jim Belle has some serious issues in his house...and I can't see where he's doing a thing about it. Maybe the success of the new Whipple will change that.

I wish that were true, but I really think that they are sooo full of themselves over at KB that they will not even take notice till its too late; and Whipple has more of the marketshare. Oh well, If I get a L or Cobra a few years down the road (not trading the X though) I just might go with a Whipple or big single turbo instead of another Kenne Bell.

wow I can think of so many better ways to spend $125K

I'm with you. Man, if i had $125k and if I wanted a gas-sucking top-heavy fast-ass SUV, I'd get a Cherokee SRT8 and have enough left over for a Lotus Elise AND a Charger RT, and STILL have change left over for gas. That way I've got 3 categories of vehicles covered for whatever mood I'm in. ;)

That is true, but the guy who bought the car also owns an 06 black BMW 750LI sport with 22" black center Lowenhart wheels, an 06 white ML500 on 22" wheels, an 03 black Escalade and the G55. So, except from sports cars, there isn't much left for him to get.

It's a new "Xtazy" energy drink, it's in New York mostly and now it's coming to L.A., my friend is the representative on those drinks in California.

The G55 does not compare (in terms of style) with other high performance SUV's like the Supercharged Range Rover and I think that is without a doubt. I think the Cherokee SRT-8 looks better than that to be honest. I'm just not into the idea of driving a around in a box.

Well, hell, then he should stop blowing his money on more SUVs he'll never get to drive and send me some cash. ;)

All I need is about $40k and i could get started on the Cobra kit car I want to build .... come on, that's merely the down payment on the Range Rover Sport he's bound to purchase next. Hook me up. ;)

You guessed right my friend, the Range Rover Sport Supercharged is the next..

WTF?....... what does this guy do? Does he own enron or something :D J/K.

Yea, actually it is really good... there are 4 flavors, pineapple, lime, orange and cranberry. Tastes very good and you don't get that specific taste that Red Bull or other major energy drinks have, it tastes like regular soda but packs whole lot of "Xtazic" energy in it.
