Anyone still making these?? The McLaren grill was just met with a resounding NO from the primary driver of the new car. So, it's either 04 LSE or a Mesh. Preferably the mesh, and would I be able to find a lower airdam grill that matches???? I've seen pics of one guys car with it, the black one with the front spoiler I think. WHERE DID YOU GET THAT!?!?!?!?

This is mine:

Quik, I got some chrome mesh about a week ago to put it along the bottom airdam, just like you did. How did you install the mesh against the back and it stay tight against it? Ties? Screws?

How do you do that?

Hello, This is my first post on this board so forgive me any errors. I'll post over in the welcome wagon board, but let me thank all of you who's posts I poured over and who collectively inspired me to purchase my (new) '00 V8 LS. Quick_LS and GreyGhost are up at the the top of that list. Your wisdom was invaluable. :yourock:

Now for the important stuff: Quick_LS, how did you affix that mesh to your upper and lower grills? As soon as I find the mesh (with your installation assistance of course) that's the first thing going on my car. It looks great!

Thanks!

:Beer

Quik, yours was the one I was thinking of. That's just outstanding looking. Personally I like the McLaren grill, but the primary driver of the car (her) hated it at first sight, and basically said "no way in hell" in not-so-nice terms.

So I'm taking it that your grill is a custom setup Quik?? If you wouldn't mind sharing how you did it and got it to look so nice, you'd be my new hero!!!!!

Did I mention that :L

yep - ties - I'm luckly because you can't see black ties against a black LS on the lower grill. It's mesh in on the backside of the grill (cut larger than the opening) and the ties hold it firm.

I've tried a bunch on different things for the upper grill - this is the current suggestion - the mesh is held on top of the OE black plastic with clear ties. That seems to be the most stable and stands up the the odd rock off the road the best. I also used some black door edge trimming from AutoZone to go around the outside edge - so you can't see the rough cuts of the mesh.

Hmmm.......There's got to be a way to cut out a stock grill and reinstall Mesh with a 100% clean install........Same goes for the bottom.....

sure - I did this before....

But the 'fine' mesh I used didn't stand up to the rocks as well.

Mike - LSE4ME (I think) - has a very nice CDC mess grill - but they don't make them anymore....

It just kills me that no one makes a good find mesh grill (think CTS-V) for these cars, considering how GOOD they look. I may try to find a stocker and make one, but I doubt I'll have any luck with it.

That's MONEY right there. Did they make one for the lower grill like that too??? Awesome!!

They did. Like Lou said, they don't make it anymore

That was my point. Too bad that some companies don't make many aftermarket parts for the LS due to the lack of demand.

MOST, not all, drivers of cars that "mod" are under 60. I have yet to see someone driving an LS in Knoxville, TN that has hair that is not totally white/gray. I know where you live GG1, but I have not seen you yet.

Actually, when I was test driving mine, I saw some younger lady driving one and it had aftermarket exhaust on it. That was the first and last modded LS I have seen on the road. :)

I get asked all the time.... How did you go from a modified Mustang to a Lincoln? When I can't find anyone driving an LS my age (36) I start thinking, maybe I am getting old. :) :) :)

I guess I shouldn't mention that I'm 26 and she's 23??? We're both just performance minded and knew we wanted something that's very nice and comfortable and offered a certain level of performance too. It was offered in the LS. Not to mention we got a smoking deal.

We were looking at the Grand Prix GTP, which are nice by all means, and have a larger aftermarket following, but what it lacked was the refinement that the lincoln has. Other than those two that's all we were looking at in the sport sedan market. The BMW's and Benzs' were all too freaking expensive to purchase and maintain, the Cadillac just didn't appeal to us in performance (unless it was a CTS-V, but we can't afford that). The Lincoln just offered us everything we were looking for (except near 30 gas mileage, but hey, a CAI and exhaust will help that along, right??).

I can understand the performance market not having a strong following for a lincoln vehicle being that Lincoln isn't a performance based division and the majority driver is an older person, but given that it's the same motor as found in the Thunderbird, you'd think that there would be more than we've got.

Hello vendors??? I'll offer up our car as the guinea-pig for a blower kit!!! :D

Old age?

Hey guys, I am 62 and still like to modify my rides. Habits of more than 40 years do not just go away when you pass 35. I too have been dissappointed by the lack of performance mods available for the LS.

:Bang

It's a shame the aftermarket isn't stronger for these cars considering that they're a VERY solid foundation to build on from the start. I don't know that much about the 3.9L V8, but considering it's a 32V motor, I'm willing to bet that there's a TON of potential in it.

Unless I crossed a wire and it's NOT a 32V motor???? Someone confirm this??

I am also 26 and I am all about comfort and power and the LS is the leader. Like Fastbird said BMWs are hot but too pricey and I have plenty of pricey toys already. I also just bought my LS not even a month ago and I am all about customizing it. iPod is the first step and then engine mods and finally body. This forum is a great advantage in finding what I want.

Speaking of iPod anyone have there, iPod, pro-wired into there ride. I am looking for West Coast Custom style. I dont want all the wires and lighter adapters. I found a company that sells the conversion kits but I am lil nervous to buy it. Its from Dension USA company, here is the link.... http://www.densionusa.com/x/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=375&Itemid=79

someone please tell me if this is correct, thanks!

My thoughts exactly. I was going to get a GTP, mainly due to the following the car has, but ran into the LS the same week I was looking at the GTP and decided to spend the extra $$$ for the LS. A good friend of mine has a GTP and I saw all the work he had to do to it (sensors and such failing) and thought that I would be better getting something more reliable anyway. hahahhahhahahahha...ends up I had my car apart to work on it my first week. If I had to do it over, and I still might, I would get a late model 2002 for it's reliability factor though. I might give this one to my wife and get a silver 2002 for myself and long trips. :) She LOVES the LS. My 21 month old son cries when we walk past my car and he knows we are taking her '00 Intrigue. I guess that means he likes it better too. :)

I really wanted a 2005 Mustang GT, but can't afford one this year. After driving one, I would swear the LS drove a little tighter. I am sure the Mustang forum would disagree and it could have been my friend and salesman in the car throwing the balance off. I would be happy with an LS with that 2005 Mustang drivetrain though. Plenty of mods will be out for that one! I will add that I LOVE the 2005 Mustang's looks, but there are two or more LSs on this site that turn me on as much.

...ooops rambling...

Actually, one of our 93 Trans Am's has a good bit of suspension work (springs, control arms, shocks, sway bars), and the LS feels just as tight as it. I was pushing the LS through some sweeping banked on/off ramps yesterday, and it just bit in and went at speeds just as fast as I can push the Trans Am.

I'm honestly semi-glad that there's not more of an aftermarket following of the LS. I have two Trans Am's that aren't NEAR completion to my liking yet, one of which needs paint and a 9" rear for the track. I can barely afford to mod two cars at once, much less three!!!
