I recently purchased a 2000 LS with just over 61K miles on it

I was not aware of the 91 Octane Recommendations when I bought at and filled with with 89 "plus" gas,

Now under acceleration that car acts like it is misfiring and at stop lights it also seems to miss

This started to happen 1/2 way through that tank of 89 fuel, I just topped it off with 93 from BP

Do you guys think that is my problem or is it something else, I have been reading there are alot of problems with my year of car, so I hope I just did not buy someone elses problem bag........

Car Ran like a Dream when test drove it. I am hopeing at this point most of the bugs have been fixed and my own stupidty caused this problem and once the bad gas is gone it will run like it did when I bought it...

Also anyone know of a Good Lincoln Dealer in the Indianapolis Area to take it too, I want to have the Scheduled Mantenance done and have them look it over anyway...

Thanks

Ya because the combustion ratio is higher, the higher octane is needed, otherwise you can possibly experience your situation. I hope this keeps ya from doing it again. Grab an octane booster to help balance out your current fuel tank. Good luck!

ohh that is for sure, the sad part is Gas Prices dont Concern me since my Company pays for all my gas... I was just in the habit of running 89 in my old car and did not even think about it, when I got home and read the manual that is when I found out about the 91 recommendation

thanks.

i run 89 and 91 octane fuel and can't tell any difference at all, mileage is within .5mpg... however ,your sparkplug holes could be filling up with oil from the valvecover gaskets, my 2000lsv8 had 98k on it when i changed my v/c gaskets and 6 out of 8 holes had oil contamination... the oil shorts out the plug and causes misfires, just like water does... worth checking into...lol

Well it was the Valve Covers.....

Picking it up from the local Dealer tommorow... $$$$$$$$:)

Yea...EXPENSIVE job when doing it through the dealer.
from the start, but I have better luck with not getting ripped of by R&R "mechanics" when going with the dealerships...

Paymore on the Per HR rate, but saves you money in the long run from less misdiagnosis's

and it is normally easier to correct problems through a dealership than a private mechanic as well

I hear ya. I wasn't meaning to rip on Dealerships there, like it may have sounded. I don't like taking my car anywhere. The LS is a very different breed like my SHO was. It's hard to find mechanics that know anything about them.

Glad they got it fixed for you.
