In anticipation of the one year anniversary of LVC.com I thought I would do a couple of polls for a certain lincoln vs a certain cadillac. I won't do a whole bunch, but I'll do a few. I'll start things out with two from my favorite era for both brands, the second half of the 70's.

The Mark V vs. The Eldorado.

I took the time to find a front shot, a side shot, a rear shot and a dash shot of each model (thank you cardomain.com!) When you post in the poll, post for the one you like better overall, but in the text part of the post, break it down. I.e. which rear do you like better, which dash do you like better, what about it do you like better, etc.

I will post my take on this on a later post.

Hope participation is high... after a couple more of these, I will get to the 90s (Mark VIII vs Eldorado...hold off on that one til I post it.)

Have fun!

They're kinda 2 different animals. You just can't argue with the Mark. The pics you posted are a great example. That is one great looking car. I like the dash in the Caddy better, but overall, I'd have to go with the Mark. There isn't anything that I don't like about it.Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to staring at the pics for a while.

Wow..that is quite a mark v!!!!!!
that black..those rims..the tires...the exhaust..life doesn't get any better than that!

Of all of these comparo threads that I did, there wasn't a single one that I would call an "easy" choice. Each one that I voted against was a loved car. This one, however, was not quite as hard as some of the others.

From a mechanical perspective, it was easy. The 500 in the caddy is actually less powerful than the 460 in the lincoln, and then the Eldo is FWD and the Mark is RWD, so mechanically it's an easy choice (why the hell would they make a car that big FWD?!)

Cosmetically, it's not quite as easy. They're both stunning cars and either one passing me on the road would take my eyes off what's happening around me, but the Mk is sleeker and more smartly designed, with an aggressive front end, sports car stance and super aggressive rear end. The caddy is a rolling example of a creative explosion wrapped in elegance, a sort of a chandalier picaso on wheels. But that's a good thing! Except that the car's poise and proportions become a little wierd, and that's what ends up making the decision for me. The Mark has a more solid stance to it, and manages to be both luxury and muscle looking.

The Mark V is my favorite in the Mark series.

Eldorado's FWD is sucks!! I do stick with Mark V's anyway. Reason about Mark V's style are very handsome and clean looks. Perhaps you should add one more thread for 80's Mark VI VS Eldorado.

I thought about that. I also thought about the Mark IV and I thought about the 2002 Continental vs. the 2002 Deville, and I thought about the early 80's Continental vs. the Seville, and thought of doing a comparo from the late 50's and from the early 60's, but I thought for now I'd just keep it to 2 comparos a decade, one for the flagships and one for the non-flagships, and limit the decades to the 60's-90's.

Doing those up really did quite literally take me about 8hrs, so it's a lot more work than it looks finding good pictures, then resizing them and all that jazz...besides, the response to these threads have been a little slower than I wanted, so I may do one later on, but for now, I'll pass.. You can if you want to, I'll cast my vote and post a reply or two.
