My ecu threw a code 634 indicating that the MLPS was out of range while the tranny is in Park. I get the check engine light periodically as a result. How can I fix this? Is the sensor in the console? is it a hassle to do?

thanks,

thanks,

Whats the mileage ? There are adjustments to be made to the MLPS at the trans. It also may just be bad.

the mileage is 102 000. Is this something serious? Would it affect driveability in a noticeable way?

i have been noticing a sort of reluctance to downshift under light load - so i take it this is something I should have repaired immediately? Is it a costly repair in terms of labour to get at the part? To be clear, is it a sensor that needs to be replaced, or an adjustment that needs to be made to the transmission to put it "back in range"? Sorry for all the questions.

Its cheap, most dealerships have it in stock, most tranny shops too.
Its 2 bolts and one plug, total DIY, takes about 15 minutes total.

I just went over to NAPA and picked up a new sensor for like $30 or something like that and it took like all of 10 minutes to replace it.

i just went to my lincoln dealership - 170 dollars canadian for the part. this seems outrageous compared to the prices you guys seem to get in the US.

I have gone to a bunch of part places and they don't carry the part. This sucks. I guess I will have to order it from the US. Does anyone know of a website that would carry such a part? i'm having no luck so far, and napa's website doesn't seem to work properly...

thank you very much, much easier to find the part by that name instead of mlp sensor.

i got under my car yesterday, with a jack - and there doesn't seem to be a way I can remove and properly install the new sensor myself because the exhaust pipe and the shifter linkage is in the way. How did you guys get around this?
