Have been driving the new 98 LSC for two weeks now and with the great weather we have had up here I want to open my roof but can't.

This was the one big problem with this car, the moonroof seems to be sealed shut. I think a glass company sealed it around the inner frame because of water in the car.

Could some one open thier moon roof and shoot some pictures so I can see how this one might have been sealed? I would like to try and get all the parts together as in a new seal and all that before I tear it open. I want everything to be working and not just have a piece of imobile glass over my head.

What makes you think they sealed it? If they did its likely because there was a problem with the track assembly. Before you do anything, drop the moonroof motor cover in the backseat and be CERTAIN the three screws on the motor are on tight. I've seen moonroofs that didn't work or were off track simply because these screws were loose. I have a spare motor and track assembly if you need them.

I did a pictorial on how to replace your track. Here it is: http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=59918

I wish the moderator would put it in the tech section?????

Is there a rubber seal around the perimeter of the glas or is it sealed from below? I can feel silicone from the edge of the roof to the glass. When I press the switch there is a click but nothing more.

You could open the access panel and remove the gear drive to make sure its operating. Carful - torque. It also has to be lined up just right with the stop switches, etc. Mark positions. If you really think its sealed you should be able to break the seal and pop it up a little with the motor out. You will want to make sure the drain tubes are clean.

If it was working fine but sealed due to water issues, the drain tubes are certainly clogged. Rather common issue that is easy to take care of. A search may give more detail.

Does the glass drop and go under the roof or raise and go over. Never had a Mark before so I am at a loss here.

it goes into the car
and this is the best I can do for a pic right now
My car is still in storage along with my manuals

I'm glad this topic was posted. My moonroof started acting up the last couple weeks. It wont flip up in the vent position. As of yesterday I was closing the moonroof and it sounded like a gear was off. Had to close to manually to get it sealed.

Saw this topic today when I got home, pulled the access panel and 2 of the screws hit me in the face. Got them in and tight and it slides back and forth again. Now if I could just get it to flip up...but not a big ordeal. Just wanted it functional in the fully open position.

Screw sounds like your timing is off, You can set it up pretty easy, plug the motor in (have it hanging not installed) run the switch it has stops built in, your timing must be off, Lsc You may be able to help your window push up on the back and click the front of the switch

OK since the weather got really nice I decided to start on the moonroof investigation. I found the following;

1. Sealed shut with black silicone, silicone seal now broken.
2. Hit switch nothing other than a click from the motor I can hear it
3. Removed motor access panel all screws tight and in place
4. Push up on back of glass and it does move a bit but does not go up even when pressing button

5. NEED HELP!!

any advice would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone have a trouble shooting guide then can direct me to?
