We just got our 00 LS. When I try to open the moonroof it will open for a bit and then stop and so on and so on. I tried to lube up the track with grease and that didn't really help much. Next day I used WD40 and that seeme dto help much more.
Any other good ideas on how to get it to open on the first try??

It is closing and going up with ease.
Thanks

Mine does the same thing, the dealer replaced the switch back when it was under warranty but now Im just stuck constantly pressing the switch till it opens all the way.

I hope its not a bad motor in there.

I hate to tell you this, but that's what it is. The motor. Something to do with limiting switches or something or another in the motor. I just went through this. I just knew it had to be the switch. I replaced the switch myself and nada. Still had the exact same problem. I let the dealer worry about it. They replaced the motor and it's perfect.

You can replace the motor yourself if you have the manual to do the adjustments with. But it is a real pain. Since mine was under warranty, I said to heck with that!!

By the way, if you had the complaint under warranty and they didn't fix it, I would be screaming like crazy to get the motor warrantied.

2000 SS TC Moon roof jammed?

I have a 2000 Sig Series Town Car with a similar moonroof problem. please see my recent thread. I reply said: drive motor needs to be re-synchronized.

I will subscribe to this thread as it is of direct interest to me.
Thanks. :L

Bump, my 2000's roof also has issues, but it's not like the above ones.

It won't tip down into the roof unless I bop it from the top (out the open driver's window).

Once it's down, it slides no problem, and also closes no problem.

Lubbing the strip didn't help (friction?).

Just throught I'd throw that out there.

Hmm, I was going to suggest lubing the seal too. I used Vasoline when we bought ours a few weeks ago because it looked to have little dry cracks in it. Then Armol All on top of that. Beads up nicely too.

Careful with the lube ideas

I had that proble at first too. Mine has been painted two different colors since the factory coat. Lubing the seal only made it swell and stick more. :Bang

I am still leaning to it needing an adjustment or re-tensioning of the cables. That re-synchronizing thing sounds like a viable possibility too. I am looking to figure out the issue and do the work in August when I pull the car out of service for a bit.

Does Anybody know where I can get a free schematic diagram for the moonroof assembly please???? :feedback
