So I drive a 2005 LS V8. Last week, the temperature rose, and I added coolant to the Degas bottle and limped to my destination. The engine never went into limp mode, neither did it die on me. I replaced the upper radiator hose, since it had a large hole in it. I replaced that (and I plan on replacing the other plastic parts later on down the road). Now it's leaking from the back of the engine. I'm not able to find any schematics for the cooling lines, so I am hoping to borrow from your superior knowledge. And I tried searching for a similar thread but was unable to find any. It's dripping steadily but not gushing. I'm hoping it's not the head gasket (I checked the oil, but it's not milky nor is there any white smoke from the tailpipe.) Your help is appreciated!

You're probably gonna be told that your DEGAS bottle is cracked.. has micro cracks, etc etc.

Yep! Sorry, but that pressure blew the hose and the Degas.Of course,if you're in Utah, you may need to run the pressure. That's up to you. don-ohio :)^I

A drip hardly means pressure blew a hose... Besides, unless gravity is causing your water flow, there is pressure in your system.

LS4me.... Didn't you see he said a large hole in his radiator hose? And there is no pressure in my system to speak of,LS4me. My car would never blow a hose.
I just hate to see all the unnecessary CARnage out there.LOL! don-ohio :)^)

Leaking at the back of the engine, driver side, correct? Kid's hit it, degas bottle. They crack like mad, and take all the other plastic parts with them.

Belay my last. It looks as though it's just standard, good ol' corrosion. I've got new parts coming (lower radiator hose, DCCV, Degas bottle, thermostat housing and cooling inlet tube). It seems as though the coolant inlet tube is leaking from the base and running out the back. And it had the wrong coolant in it (I admittedly put in the wrong type. 'Doh!) So just going to replace all the plastic, flush the system, and put in the right stuff.

EDIT 1: It was coming down on both sides of the tranny, on the drivers side it was just a slow drip, passenger side was a steadier stream. It makes sense given the location of the coolant inlet tube.

Sounds good! So which Degas bottle did you get, because Dormans are said to be junk? You're gonna have to use a lot of water to flush all that other coolant out if you're going with the Ford Premium GOLD. Not even half comes out when you drain the radiator. don-ohio :)^)

Again with the "there is no pressure in my system" in this overheating thread also!

You're like this forum's new Jrand or something. Go ahead, advise this new LS owner to also remove his degas cap gasket! That'll fix it!

Nah.......... Won't fix it UNLESS he goes 60/40 on the antifreeze ratio,BigRig. I thought I made that clear as mud to YOU? don-ohio :)^)

60/40 my ass! How 'bout some 5W30 in it instead?

Yeah,that would be nice,BR, if it's NEW and synthetic.Don't forget the Motorcraft filter!LOL! don-ohio :)^)

I did not order a Dorman bottle, since that seems to be a very bad idea. So with the Ford Gold Premium, is it the same as the Motorcraft Gold Premium? And what is the best way to flush the system? Thank you for your help.
