so lately 2000 V8 has had a small tick on start up, coming from the underside of the engine bay, so i know its not lifters or valves. possible crank/rod or main bearing, or maybe water pump or something else....this goes away after the car has been running for about 2 min. anyone else seen this in theirs or know what it could possibly be
also, whats that website to check if you car has been fixed under the recalls. you type in you VIN and it lets you know. ive searched everywhere and cant find it?

Sounds like a cracked exhaust manifold. Not uncommon in the 2000 V8.

Yes it probly is a crack in the exhaust manifold. i just had that fixed, among other things. it was around $300+ at the dealer mainly for labor. I tried to ignore the tick but gave in when i got my exhaust, messed up the sound.:)

I have an 02 V8 is that a common rpoblem for that year too? I hear the tick at startup and I always thought it was an exhaust leak. I guess the expansion of the manifold seals it after a couple minutes.

Yea take it in, it could be the manifold gasket which is a pretty cheap fix, but mine turned out to have a crack in the actual manifold. It was just an annoying sound.
