my friend has a 1996 (first year of the 4.6) Mustang GT. he recently did a tune up, plugs, wires, and an BBK(?) cold air kit. now he says after driving it a few minuets it starts back firing and missing. he said that he used a timing light and said it seemed ever so slightly off, he also said that he bought NAPA wires. any ideas. i want to kick his ass at the strip this summer, the fair way:D

coolant leak, passenger side intake manifold, check the rear two plugs on the passenger side.

they probably have coolant in the plug wells.

Common issue with the early 4.6 2v motors.

True but if ones not on all the way you will have a raw fuel build up in the exhaust and gas in the oil after a couple of minutes.
