For some reason my car and my two 12s will not work together, I have an 800 watt amp and compasitor going to 1500 watts of speakers but I cant even turn it up. When ever I turn the amp over a 1\4 the way up my car starts jittering and the check engine light comes on. Its obvious that the engine isnt getting enought juice, but what could cause it? Im thinking about eaither getting a beefier alternator or a dry cell optima battery. Which would you advise....

either get another battery and put it in the trunk, just wire the pos cable from the batt under the hood to the second batt then too the amp. thats what i did. or buy a capacitor. but if the capacitor catches fire its like a stick of dynamite. we were pushin serious power in a cutlass, ie 2 caps and 3 2000 watt amps. it shorted and it blew the back seat into the front of the car and the trunk lid was fddd up. i would go with a gel batt in the trunk. that is if you have a voltage drop problem. 800 watts aint that much but these newer cars are very touchy. what kinda amp is it. if it is good you may have a volt issue. :drunk: :drunk:

LOL...The back seat blew into the front of the car?? lol that is too funny I had to read it twice just to make sure I wasn't going crazy haha. You may have had the most "POWERFUL SYTEM OF ALL TIME!!!" .... Ok all jokes aside, as for the inquiry just buy an optima yellow top battery and invest in a aftermarket alternator, because if you just replace the battery there is a possibility that the stock alternator will give out in the future trust me I know from past experience (long story).. but try that and you will be set...

p.s. try not to blow your seat thru your window though, because I heard this is happening alot these days lmaoooooo

I have a 1200W amp and a 1.5f cap/2 12s. I wired everything directly to the battery, and I have no problems. You must have some connection issues or something. Others are running larger systems without issues also. You are wired directly to the battery on the positive side right?

i ran 2 vf 400.1s in my lincoln ls at 1 ohm each. Along with a hifonicsjupiter thats close to 9000rms watts. I did however have a 260 amp alt and an extra 2 kinetik 2400s. Which by the way i am selling. The alt i have should fix your problem in no tim its more the double the power of a stock ls alt and ill let it go fo 190 shipped
