Last nite after taking my 1975 Continental out for a spin, it started on fire. I was leaving my friends house trying to turn the ignition and it wouldnt turn over. I took the key out and as I was getting out I saw smoke, popped the hood and there was a :q:q:q:qing fire!

Immediately I was :q:q:q:qting bricks because, well my car was on :q:q:q:qing fire! The flames shot 4 feet in the air when I popped the hood and the flames looked like they were coming from the carburetor maybe even from the oil. We put the fire out with water from a hose in time before it blew the :q:q:q:q up.

This was the scariest thing thats happened to me...I'm going to go take some pictures of the damage and i'll post em so everybody can see damage. I'm pissed because I was going to rebuild that 460 and maybe put a sc on it. I'm also pissed because even if i do keep the car, the hood has some boil spots from the heat.

Man, what a shame.Thats a sweet ass car too.

I feel for you... If anything, new(er) sheet metal and you can get the beauty back on the road.

I had my insurance guy go out and look at it...The fire came from the carbuerator, a gas line apparently fell off and started the fire, some wires were burnt, my carbuerator and my edlebrock air cleaner. It's a $1000 deductible for a repair that would be $300 at the most...BS! So i'm just gonna tow it back to my house, and overhaul the whole engine.

Is there a forum for people with the 460 engine? I was thinking about putting performance parts in the 460 when I rebuild it, maybe bring it up to about 350 hp or so. Anyone have any ideas?

That picture was taken when i first got my LS 1 1/2 years ago.
