My 99 STS got a mirror hammered while parked :-(

So now the driver's side mirror triangle-shaped base is pulled away from the door about 1/4 inch at the top. A friend said the plastic around the inside of the door frame "just pulls off" and then I could check the screws that hold the mirror on.

Has anyone done this? Just how hard should I pull - I don't want to break the clips or warp the plastic so it won't go back on.... any help and sympathy appreciated...

I can only sympathize dude... I'd bring it to the dealer and find out how much a replacement will cost from them... Then hit ebay to find the part. Ask the dealer how to take it off or fix it. I've found they'll tell you for nothin, but if you have them do it... Its expensive...
