Anyone here have any bass in their lincoln LS? It seems like the trunk in my car, or maybe my hook up causes my bass to only be about 20% of normal. I am taking signal off of the powered side of the factory amp. Around the trunk the sound sucks with a lot of rattling and hollow noise. Inside the car it sounds OK, but low output. Gain MAXED. Anyone else know anything?? Thanks.

You should put your gain a little less then in the middle, or in the middle, and check the fases, the (+) and the (-) where the wires connect to the subs, maybe they are off, it will sound like crap if you have em wrong. And also I don't think that it is a good idea to take the powered side, take the preamps better, they have some special adapters for it, you connect em to the speaker wires.

And I didn't quite understand if you are using another amp for your subs, or you are using the factory amp? If you are on the factory amp, then that's the problem.

I am using my own amp. I tried using the non powered side of the sup output from the amp, but the signal was to weak. I have since gotten signal from the right rear sub after it leaves the factory amp. This is my first time using speaker level inputs, so I am a novice with them. I have the gain AND the BASS boost MAXED. In my truck the subs pounded with normal mid level settings. Where exactily are you getting your signal from??

are you sure you don't have the polarity on the INPUTS swapped? you need to get this right. if you are running in bridged mode or L+R mode and you have one of the inputs wired incorrectly it will basically NEGATE (or "cancel") the signal. moral of the story is make sure you got your +'s and -s right on the INPUT side. easy way to check if you screwed the up is disconnect on input (left or right) while listening, if the volume INCREASES then you blew it.

The reason for the lack of bass....your factory radio has a filter blocking out about 65hz and below, even on the subwoofer signal. So when you hook up your amp from that signal you are not receiving those frequencies. The only way to solve that problem is to get an aftermarket radio.

I wanted to avoid using an aftermarket radio because I actually (for once) like the factory unit, and am in love with the steering wheel controls. As far as wiring goes I have both + inputs to the aftermarket amp wired togeather to one + from the factory amp, and the same for the -.

umh that may be your problem. you can not wire like this. you are causing a major overload on your head unit. if you haven't burned your head unit's outputs up, try just disconnecting the left or right. really, you can not do what you are doing

I figured it would be OK since I thought the aftermarket amp was only monorting the siagal, but I will fix it tomarrow and wire +/+&-/- L&R insted of ++/+ & --/-. Thanks

I had the same problem.....I added an aftermarket HU and There was a night an day difference....I had 2 solo's in my truck and they pounded everything and in the ls with the same setup (with factory HU) I could not even shake water in a cup in the trunk....LOL.....shows the difference...

Just asking for help on saving me time on taking the box out to see!
