The wife and I got our fourth greyhound. Her bane is Betty. Retired racer. She just turned 9yrs on the 20th. Ew rescued her from a messing divorce situation. Husband was being a cock. I won't go into details.

Her she is running around the backyard. She is a little thin. Weighed 51lbs, when we got her. We need to put about 5 more punds on her. She VERY healthy. Good teeth. No injuries. Few old scars from racing. Very quite and gentle. No guard dog.

Congratulations. They are great dogs.
The dog race industry is awful, it's great when you can save one.

Do they always sleep all weird like that with their legs stretched out?

That's not weird, that's just comfortable. Sometimes they sleep like that, other times, not.
You must not have big dogs.

nice dogs ill love to have a dog (german shepherd) but cant keep animals in my apartment

I've always thought of getting one. We have the Dubuque Greyhound park near by and you can get dogs from there always.

The ones my friends have aquired always seem like nice dogs.

Talk about sleeping wierd. How about this. Its called the "roach". As in dead roach. All fours in the air. ALL greyhounds do it. Greys can curl up into little balls and sleep. But they can also be bed hogs.

They are VERY routine type animals. They are good for apartments. Kennel them at night and when you are gone. They like to be walked. You MIGHT have to train them for stairs. I have had to train three of my four greys to up and down stairs. Some rescues will not allow apartment owners to adopt. They want yards for them to run in. You CANNOT allow your grey to run lose either. They are "sight hounds". They can go from 0 to 35mph in two strides. They see something. They are GONE!!!!!!!!! That fast. The natural hunting instict is always there. Which is why Teddy attacked our Boston. The Boston ran under him. He instictly reacted. Grabbed the Boston by the nack.

One more thing. They are the worlds fastest couch potatos. Play for 5 minutes then sleep for 3 hours.

I don't have a greyhound, but I have a Pharaoh Hound mix, so I can relate to your experience with them. They are great dogs, and it's great to rescue them.

Other than rescue situations, I people are best off NOT buying pedigrees. There are too many great mutts out there needing to be saved, without all the inbred genetic conditions.

Nah I had a rottweiler but we had to put it to sleep last December. Maybe it's just how long they are that makes it look odd.

Neat dogs. Wifes sister has one, it trashes the house though....high strung.

Big dogs with the long legs sleep like that.

Nice dog man love the way they look

here is a picture of my 6 month old german shepard
