My Front Passenger Wheel Fell Off Today!

as i was backing out of the driveway this morning my front passenger side all of a sudden slams to the ground. i jump out the car to see what the hell just happened and to my surprise i see my wheel leaning and wedged in the fender well. uppon further inspection i noticed that the lower ball joint bolt worked its way lose and caused all to come crashing down. do any of you guys know what size the lower ball joint bolt is? i guess i rode home like this! i think i used up 1 of my nine lives.
 
That is insane, strange as it sounds I think I heard of this happening before on another Mark VIII forum.
 
the nut just worked its way off. i actually found the nut loose prior to me swapping to coil over suspention. i called myself tightening the nut back but, i guess i should have torqued it to the factory specs. i should have known something was going on when my drivers side strut would hit hard on any bumps at highway speeds.
 
Wow Scary.. I had a rear tire come off while driving once.

It was a loaner I got from a place that was doing work on my old Bobcat back when I was in College.

While driving down the interstate I noticed a funny sound. Went off on to the Frontage road and looked at the car it seemed OK.

Started driving again. Things seemed OK when all of a sudden bang down went my ass end, and there went my drivers side rear wheel onto the on ramp and on to the Freeway.

That was scary. Car came to an easy stop and I managed to keep the car going straight.

But to loose a front tire Yuck... that would have been bad if you were on the Hwy.

Good to hear if it had to happen you were at home.
 
i really didnt think about it until i sat down at work and i was like" damn, that was my azz!" im going to start doing an under carriage inspection monthly. you dont get to many second chances like i did.
 
I had my ball joint give at 40 miles an hour Three months ago on my mark. If it wasn't for lightning fast reflexes i would be dead. luckily the only casualty was the front fender. Speeking of which does anyone know where i can get a passanger fender and drivers door preferably in white.
 
Wow Now U Guyz Are Scarin Me...well This Weekend Im Getting The Rest Of My Front End Finshed Up...new Tires Being Put On,and Lower Arms And Ball Joints....hope This Doesnt Happen To Me...scarrry Stuff.
 
The way i drive, i wouldnt be surprised if it happened to me sooner or later.
 
if any of you guys and gals have any front end issues, please address them as soon as possible! i would hate for anyone to get hurt. even though i was blessed to have mine come apart while backing up out of my driveway and not while on the road.
 
About 14 years ago i was going to pick up a friend and go to work, going down the street to his house i was going about 35 when the left front ball joint snapped. I thought it was a flat tire got out and looked at it no flat tire, I am lucky it didn't happen the day before, I was coming home from work at 70 mph!!!!!!
 
A few months back I had my car aligned and during the test drive my lower ball joint seperated and boom went my car. A tow ride and a new lower control arm later it was good again, except for the dent my tire put on the very bottom of my fender.
