My girlfriend gets free mechanic services for her 2002 Lincoln LS V8, from me. I'm mechanically inclined, and the internet has been a savior and wealth of info. I've fixed many of the common problems with the LS, with help from this site's forums...

*Replaced coil on plugs (Ebay find). That driver rear side bolt is hard to get to.
*Replaced transmission valve body spring. Told trans shop exactly what to do and saved lots of money.
*Repaired CD player (plastic gears slipping on metal shafts).
*Replaced power steering pump (squealing).
*Replaced power steering pressure sensor (fluid shooting out of electrical connector).
*Replaced driver window motor.
*Recharged the AC.
*Replaced alternator with rebuilt one from Powermax USA in Burbank (hydraulic fan pump leaked onto it and shorted it out).
*Converted from hydraulic radiator fan to electric. Used a two speed Ford Taurus fan, Volvo controller, and BMW dual temp switch. Doing a separate write-up on it. Properly bleeding the coolant system also fixed the heater.

I still need to fix the electric door lock system.
I need to replace the window washer hose at the squirter, it comes off.

It's a good car, powerful, lots of room, comfortable, big trunk, and very safe. I like it but my girlfriend would prefer something smaller for parking and mileage purposes. I'm not thrilled by all of the maintenance I've had to do to it, but now that the common stuff is done (knock on wood), I hope she can drive it much longer with no problems.
