Looking for help on getting my M7 running again!
Ordinary situation: I started it up to move it off my lawn to spray off some dirt and dust from it sitting for a few days....it started right up no problems...drove it out on the road, parked it and shut it off. Then i sprayed it off, let it dry off for about an hour and i went to go start it back up and it would crank and crank but wouldn't trun over. Battery is fully charged. Makes NO noises.

First check for fuel pressure (if you dont have a gauge, purge the schrader and see if it sprays out). Next check for spark (again, if no tester, pull a plug wire, and insert a screwdriver in the boot and hold it 1/8-1/4 in away from engine ground while someone cranks the engine). If no fuel pressure check fuel pump/fuel punp circuit. If no spark/injector pulse check coil/coil circuit, crank shaft position sensor, or timing belt/chain.

Try the fuel pump cutoff switch in trunk, if ya bumped car somehow it might have been triggered but usually takes a good hit (my friends car the thing would go off pretty easy though).

Did you clean the engine bay? You can run into that problem sometimes if you spray the engine down and don't cover the distributor.

other thoughts?

i have air, spark, and fuel, checked distributor looks good....checked TFI module looks good, changed spark plugs.....looks like a weaker than normal spark...iam leaning toward an ignition coil.

timing could be off...check all your spark plug for correct firing. and make sure all the plugs are good. fuel pump could be shot but i dunno if you checked that out alrady.

have you checked your starter coil?

i took my distributor out to clean/inspect it...now can someone please help me set my TDC?

Ouch.
According to the shop manual, you were supposed to mark it's current position before removing it so that you'd have a referrence point to install from. You'll have to ask the SMART guys here about that one.

- John "OldSchool" Dancy

- Remove the #1 spark plug (front, passenger side). Take the plug wire off so you don't get shocked!
- Put a rag or the tip of your finger into the plug hole.
- Have someone bump the motor until you feel the compression push your finger out - that's TDC.
- Now place the distributor in the hole and line up the rotor with the #1 plug mark on the top of the rotor. It's marked "1".

Voila! Should be good to go. :Beer

Oh, and then you want to reset your timing afterwards. Get me on IM if you need help while doing it. I'm on usually ALL day.

Good luck.
