I have a 2006 ls and i recently smoked my tail lights just the bottom red part not the reverse light exactly like Andrizzles. I used Rustoleum Lens tint and Rustoleum Clear Coat i put 3 coats of each on my lights. now a week after having them on my tail lights right by the bulb are worping basically it looks like a dent right where the bulb is on my tail light. Why did this happen my tail lights were fine before I tinted them. is it because the light is basically getting traped and is getting too hot? Also i was planning on buying new tail lights and redueing them is there anyway i can do it so it doesnt warp like by buying a different bulb or different lens tint?

It's due to the heat from the bulb. The only solution is to switch to LEDs. Follow Alax's post on how to wire them up to eliminate any message center errors.

Oh and I have a spare set of two-toned tails in great shape :)

Hmmm now that I read this, Is it better to just use film?

nevermind, I didn't read carefully and cant delete this post now :D

Should've checked andrizzle tail light melting thread before tinting, but why would you search until they warped. Well you can reverse the damage but at least you can prevent any more damage by going with LED's. The incandescent bulbs get hot, and even more heat is trapped with tint, so you can't really avoid the warped lens unless you brake or use parking lights very minimally. Mine were slightly warped too. I think andrizzle's lights got damage so fast too because since he installed angel eyes, he always ran with the parking lights.

Yup. My lights didn't melt until it was middle of summer (this exact time last year).

Since replacing with LEDs, the melting problem is completely gone. But I still have my damaged lights on my car. I need to send in another set to be redone, but I am thinking of doing a different pattern or something this time.
