Mystery part

Does anyone know what the part is directly in front of the spigot for draining the radiator? It's a cylinder with tubing coming out the top and bottom, couldn't follow it all the way. Mine is rusted all to hell and now I am curious what it is and if I should replace it.

Sounds like the filter/dryer for the air conditioner to me.

Mine was rusted so bad that it leaked all the refridgerant and some oil out.

the foam that the factory puts around them, holds moisture aginst the unit, and slowly eats it away. I have removed all of the foam off of mine, and POR15'd them to keep them from rusting anymore.

it was rusted so bad that the foam fell off as soon as I started turning the drainage nozzle.
