Destination Duluth Mid-America National Meet, June 25-29, 2008

Our North Star Region invites you to attend the first of three National Meets for 2008. We hope our motto, “Destination Duluth”, informs you that this is the opportunity to do more than just go to a LCOC National Meet. For your vacation enjoyment we have reserved the whole week of June 23rd–30th at our host hotel, The Inn On Lake Superior, which is nestled between the Lake Superior shoreline and the famed Canal Park shops. Room rates will be $129 per night with complimentary full breakfast bar. You may call now for room reservations at 1-888-668-4352, ask for North Star LCOC room rates. Ask for a ground level room that overlooks Lake Superior (less than 30 feet away). You will need to make reservations fast as these rooms will be the first to go.

The North Star Region will open registration at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25th, with an Early Bird welcoming function starting at 6:00 PM. Come early, Duluth Minnesota, and Superior Wisconsin, invite you to see the wonders of the Lake Superior region. Our host hotel is a little over one block from the famed Aerial Lift Bridge, built in 1905. Spend an afternoon on the pier, and you’ll watch everything from sailboats to 1,000-foot freighters pass underneath.

Getting around Duluth is easy, you can walk over 4 miles on the Lakewalk, take an old-fashioned horse and buggy ride, a bicycle built for four, a restored railroad car, a sight- seeing boat or a charter fishing boat. No matter which mode of transportation you choose you won’t believe the view.

Our Lincoln Concours will be held at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) Arena, just a couple of blocks from our host hotel. Our Reception and Banquet will be held in the DECC Lake Superior Ballroom.

Thursday, June 26th, we will offer a tour through northern Wisconsin to Bayfield, a scenic village located on Lake Superior. Bayfield is about 85 miles from our hotel. We will stop for lunch at the four stars Wild Rice Restaurant that will be exclusively ours. It is a dining experience that will be the highlight of the tour. This loop tour features scenic views of northern Wisconsin and the largest of the Great Lakes. Much of the tour will be on two-lane winding roads through the countryside. We also plan to stop at a World War II Museum that honors the most famous WW II fighter ace, Richard Bong.

We will have a People Choice Awards for the favorite cars on tour, voted only by the tour participants. We will be asking for you that will be driving to volunteer to take passengers of those attending meet that do not have a car to drive or do not want to drive but still want to see the sights of northern Wisconsin.

Friday, June 27th, we will have tours available to the Glensheen Mansion, Harbor Cruise, Railroad Museum, Charter Fishing excursion, or Scenic North Shore Railroad ride. Please come early and experience all the wonders of this great port city.

Duluth is the world’s largest inland seaport, surrounded by dramatic hills and breathtaking, historic waterfront, blending with nature like no other city in the world.
