I have an '03 LS with the stock navigation. Navigation system sucks. When you turn on the car you get a welcome message whcih is the lincoln symbol and a THX screen. When i drive the car no matter how long I've been driving those welcome messages will continue to pop up and reset my whole nav system.....? I hooked up a part called Nav-TV which interfaces the screen for use with a DVD player. But even before that part the system was still doing screwed up. Wondering if anyone had this same problem or had any suggestions.

Haven't heard of that problem before. My NAV was messed up, wouldn't let me do a destination, could only do the map feature. FLM told me it was because my disc was scratched, which ended up being the case and kind of surprised me. If you take it in it would probably be worth your time pulling the NAV-TV part out, don't give them a reason to blame it all on you.

if it keeps popping up the thx logo it sounds like the system is resetting. my guess is wiring issue probably power.

yea thats what it sounds like -- also pop the dvd out to see if its scratched like black03 said -- the only other thing if its neither of these cases have the dealer do a software upgrade on the nav maybe its a software error problem - by the way did you ever run the diognostics on it......

Hey a neat trick I read about but haven't tried and I am not recommending it but I read on a cadillac forum (they said they use the same DENOS nav system) that if the get to the PIN screen and enter 1791 or 1971 it will allow you to watch DVD video on your screen. I am kind of curious if this is possible but I don't want anyone trying it if it might mess their system up.

it gets you into the service menu but doesn't let you watch movies....

I've heard of this happening in several 03 models. 04+ cars have upgraded software that fixes it. I don't know if the dealer can fix it. Have you asked them about it?

I thought service menu was 917 but 1791 was suppose to be something different. I dunno I haven't wanted to play with mine anymore

they're both service menus...917 and 1971...one of them has a couple more options that's all.

Just curious if you've tried 1791. I don't know why but I just remeber reading that, that was different then 917 or 1971. I might be completly wrong here. I dunno.

only 2 of those 3 codes work. 917, and either 1791 or 1971. think it's 1971

????? Also What The Easy Way To Watch A Dvd With The Factory Nav System?

no easy way to watch dvd out of the nav that I'm aware of. the service menu lets you test the sensors and upgrade the software (don't try to upgrade the software!!!). that's about it.
