Looking at buying a 2012 Navigator Elite with Tow Package. Primary interest would be for an over-the-road driving vehicle to take family/friends, an occasional toy hauler, and maybe a daily driver.
Went for a test drive and I like the amenities. The headlight design isn't doing much for me but that's a different subject. My question is regarding the practical use of it. I noticed that it felt a little lumbersome compared to other sized vehicles like an Escalade. Drove and rode perfect though.
Has anyone used theirs to do any hauling? Would you trust it to pull ~7K pounds of car and trailer? Have enough balls to handle a boat on a steep ramp? The 6-speed tranny hold up well? Are they good for driving 13-hours a pop not counting refills?
I'm honestly kind of left with a lack-luster impression after the test drive. I've since been honestly looking at an Escalade too. My only problems with that are that I'm somewhat of a Ford fanboy (minus the obsessive part) and the $20K+ pricetag. I can make the argument that it is a better vehicle though. More power, better suspension and feel, and marginally less ugly headlights.
Thanks for any feedback.
