Need a Mass Airflow Sensor

I have a 2000 Lincoln LS and I ran into a problem which I think is due to a faulty Mass Airflow senor. When I turn on the car it start up and about 10-15 seconds it shakes and dies. When I unplug the Mass airflow sensor it starts and idles fine. Could it be a faulty Mass airflow sensor ? My LS has about 134K Km on it. When I went to the dealer they want $310.00 Canadian (+ $100 for the core) for the part...what a ripoff! The airfilter was changed about 4 months ago. Any help would be appreciated....txs

my 2000ls has a horrible time starting up sometimes, but never dies like that, i do get a shake here and there however

There is one on E-BAY right now if you can deal with a used one, not that I recommend it.
