first off, I will be 100% honest and say I really don't care abut your opinion of having one on the LS

I know this was talked about and Yakima made one for the LS but it was only sold through ford and probably not even around anywhere these days. And I didn't see where anyone went anywhere with it but they have many more options now.

I looked Thule and Yakima but I do not have any experience in these. If anyone knows whether or not they make brackets that will work with our style roof it will be appreciated.

If you just want to tell me it will look dumb I don't car, this is not a show car its just a car...

If it's for a bike why not get one that plugs into a receiver hitch? Wouldn't that be much less expensive?

Ive searched myself and had not been able to find anything that nice. I tossed around the idea of getting one for another car and having some brackets made. I know there was a pick on here of a teal LS with one, looked nice in my opinion...

i did find this one

Not sure if this is what your looking for

I don't see how that would work as the LS has no roof rails.

Also have looked into this and looked online and all the major sites say its not possible but i have yet to go to a yakima or thule dealer to find out for sure. I even emailed the guy with the teal LS to see what he did for it but sadly never heard back from him.

If you're a fellow BMX rider then I feel less alone on here haha.

well when you figure I don't have a hitch on the ls it will be no where near less expensive and I am not okay with some jerk rear ending my bikes,

And Joe, I have a mountain bike, Fuji and the Lady has a trek so we are trail riders :)

that's what the black clamps on the bottom are for they lock in the door jam

I may just go to the local bike shop and see if we can find one for a similar car that will lock down good

:shifty:.... but it will look dumb lol :p

As you said though its your car and you want it to fit your needs

yeah, I need it to haul a bike every weekend during the summer and I don't want to have to put it on take it off put it on take it off, screw that noise

Heard that.. hope you can find one, if you do let me know I have a nice lowrider I would like to put on my car and ride it around downtown east lansing.. hoes go crazy

But there isn't a "sharp" edge for the "clip" to grab. The door openings are pretty rounded.

How often have you been rear-ended? In my 40+ years of driving I've been rear-ended once. Were you rear-ended wouldn't their insurance buy new bikes for you?

Just thinking out loud here.

Bwahahahaha I can see the low rider on the roof now!!

I would rather not have to worry about who's replacing 2k worth of bikes and the convenience factor of a roof rack is also worth it. Also I doubt their insurance would have to pay for the bikes and if it did they wouldn't give me the money to replace them with anything comparable.

Also it doesn't need sharp edge the towers would lock onto the lip or raised edge of the roof and pull it tight by locking into the door jam.

I spend like $700 on it when I was like 12 so that was like $2k now-a-days to me!
Boss...

i think a roof rack can be done right on a LS. That teal LS that was mentioned earlier looked good IMO.

The only reason i would be reluctant to do it is because of the clips that attach to the doors. They have to be really tightened and when closing the doors you do damage to the weather strips(or w.e you call them) around the doors. I say this because my roommate is a biker so he has one on his bimmer (3 series) and that area above his doors is f-ed up. Kinda sad actually such a nice little car.

Ill take pics if i can and show you guys what im talking about.

I am going to go to my local bike shop tonight and look to see if there are any racks wit towers that will lock down on the LS and I will let you know what I find.

Keep an eye out for an old Saris rack. I have one and there were clips available for the early LS's. I would be willing to let my Saris go, however you would still need to locate clips somehow.

I bought one for the trunk.... holds on nicely and comes off easy, It holds them high enough to be safe from a car impact... i think. your call though

there was a door joke in there but i left it alone :D
