Long story short in an attempt to not get side-swiped in all the lovely construction going on around me I hate a construction barrel with my car. No real damage other then scuff marks that will buff out but it smacked the passenger side mirror and I lost the glass. Pretty sure it broke the front post on the mirror as well.

Since the mecahnics of the mirror quit working a while ago I am just going to replace it with another one from ebay. None of the junkyards around here seem to have Gen2 LS' in them.

Question is, what wiring configuration do I need? I see mention of 10, 12, and 14 pin wiring. The old mirror was non-folding with puddle light and heated. I am thinking it's the 12-wire one?

For curiousity, the drivers side with the dimming would be 14-wire correct?

Guess for the price I can just buy both of the mirrors and replace them. Spend maybe $100 and have them shot to match the car and call it a day. They were both fairly pitted from bugs and road debris.

Now to decide if I want folding or fixed.

Bought a matched pair of folding mirrors from a 2003 with the same paint code as my car for $200 and only one has a noticeable scuff mark. I'll just install the LED puddles and call it a day. Hopefully the motors work in these. If not I guess I got one spare in my drivers side I can swap out.

$200 for color matched folding mirrors isnt a bad deal. I paid $60 and $75 for mine but they were scratched and not color matched.

Yeah, I figure I'll just spend the extra and be done with paint. These are actually in better shape then mine except for the one that is scuffed. That looks like it will buff out easily with a mildly aggressive polish.

Even a stopped clock...

Several years ago I got side-swiped by a dippy high-school girl and had to replace both passenger doors. I found a guy on craigslist, close by, who had parted-out an '06 (mine's an '02) but still had all four doors. After a bit of dickering, I got all four doors---for $100. They came with folding mirrors. My '02 harness plugged-in just fine. I've never gotten around to replacing the driver's mirror with my 'spare' folder but I have it in the back of my storage. :)

Yes. They have an accent on the front that the non folding do not. Maybe Kumba can post some pics side by side when he gets his.
