Going to smoke my first cigar tomorrow on Independence Day - any advice on the best beginner cigar? Nothing too strong please - I've never so much as touched tobacco in my life.

Any particular reason you are choosing to smoke for the first time tomorrow? I have been an on/off cigarette smoker for 10+ years now and I honestly wish I had never started.

I honestly don't have any great recommendations for you as far as the traditional cigar goes. I have smoked a few that I enjoyed but typically just go with Swisher Sweets. I prefer the tobacco-less 'cigars' to the store bought ones. :shifty:

If you have never smoked before I would suggest not inhaling the smoke (or do so very limitedly). Too much cigar smoke can make you nauseous. Smoke it slowly.

Garcia Vega is alright. I've smoked cigarettes/cigars since I was 16 (4 years). It would be in your best interest to not start.

Best deal is not to start...........

But I do enjoy a good cigar. Casually I smoke the Black and Milds. Different flavors, Cream and Mild are good. Punch cigars are very well regarded in a lot of circles. Some are very mild and then some are very peppery in flavor. The Cohiba's and the Fuentes are also well regarded. As well as the Macanudo's. Whatever you choose, I would ask for recommendations from a good cigar shop or bar. Let them know that you are a newcomer and they will recommend accordingly. Just remember this, the Nicaraguans are the new Cubans.

I have to agree on Buford on the Macanudos and the Cohiba's, the first cigar I tried was a Cohiba, they are pretty good. Remember though it is all in personal taste when it comes to Cigars, you may like a sweet cigar, a mild cigar or a peppery cigar, it is all personal choice.

For a good over the counter so to say cigar, ones you can pick up at the local cigarrette store for example I would recommend Antonio Y Cleopatra's also known as Grenadier's there not bad, the most common ones I see for sale are there sweets, and there Milds. Might want to give them a try.

I agree, do not inhale. I would recommend Arturo Fuente Gran Reserve. They make a really good mild cigar, and you can get them in a size that takes about .5 hr to smoke

DONT DO IT MAN ITS NOT WORTH IT PLEASE LISTEN TO USOR IF U REALLY WANNA SMOKE THAN SMOKE A LITTLE WEED THAT :q:q:q:q AINT NEVER KILL ANYONE

OR IF YOUR GONNA REGARDLESS TRY A BLACK N MILD

LOL ... Go Cuban!! If you are going to do it do the best...

Personally I wouldn't .. but then I'm a liberal... might as well do some pot too... Hell while you are at it ... pick up a crack whore and have at it...

Garcia Vega? Eww. Those aren't even good for blunts. My advice, go to a local pipe/cigar shop and talk to the dudes working there that are probably sitting around smoking pipes. My buddy and me went there one day and spent about 30 mins talking to the dude and picking up a few cigars. Just tell them you want a mild cigar thats good for a beginner, and they should be able to steer you right.

Get the cheapest one you can find.
Inhale as much as you can stand.
It will be the last cigar you will ever want.

I think you guys are overreacting a bit. I have smoked MANY cigars in my short 22 years, and I don't think I've ever had an addictive craving for one. Cigarettes, beer, etc., that's another story. I don't see the harm in having a cigar once in a while. If the man has never tried one, I doubt he's going to go all out on smoking now. I think something like that should be tried though if you feel like it.

When your taking out the tobacco and filling it with weed. how do expect to get addicted to the cigar. Oh yeah and green leaf vegas rule. they burn slow. chocolate phillies too

Cigars are perfectly safe and completely enjoyable, especially when it's a social event. I smoke cigars occasionally, actually it seems to average out to about once a year. That Limbaugh link is actually useful. Otherwise, as mentioned, just ask the guy at the tobacco shop which mild cigar he recommends.

And don't cheap out. Price almost always equals quality. There is no comparing a good cigar to a cheap one. Spend between $5-10 and you'll enjoy the experience.

Uhh I was talking about smoking cigars, not blunts. I said Vegas suck, even for blunts in an earlier statement. They may burn slow, but they also taste like crap. I've had all types of Phillies, but I wouldn't consider them good really. If you want a real cigar, go to a cigar shop. It can't be had at the corner store for 63 cents.

I'd find out what kind president clinton uses. If nothing else, they hold up well under pressure...must be a very firm cigar...;)

I was talking about smoking blunts. Never used a cigar for anything other than smoking blunts.

I've tried the blueberry ones before and they are too strong for me.

Maybe too late, but a good Monticristo is not to strong. Arturo Fuente Classics a bit stronger but very good One of my favorites:D :D
