Does anyone have an electric fan plug from a 93-96 mark viii? I got one from a gen 2 but it doesnt have the 3 wire setup like the gen 1's have. Its for the gen 1 fan in my lightning. Id also like to have atleast 4 inches of wiring on the plug this way I can splice it. Thanks.

You don't need the 3 wire plug. It only uses two of the terminals. The third wire terminates in the wiring harness by the frame rail. You can use an ohm meter and see there is no resistance between two of the terminals because they are tied together in the fan motor. On the 97-98's you can remove the plastic access piece and see they are the same. My guess ford saved some money by using the same fan plug that they also used on the two speed thunderbirds and cougars. The mark viii fans are not 2 speed fans like the thunderbirds, the vrcm controls the speed of the fan.

going to have to disagree on a first gen fan. (but may be wrong) on my 93 (first gen) there is 2 speeds. at least when i was testing mine. probably different on a 2nd gen but on my first gen there was ground, low speed+ and high speed+. i cut the old harness/connector and used heat shrink + female connectors and just made my own. we will see how it holds up when the summer comes around.

how i found this out, i was testing my fan 12v to one of the pins and it was a calm low speed. 12v to the other, the fan would spin like the world was about to end.

You are parting out a car. Take apart the wiring harness and you will see where the wire terminates. I made a video in which i had a disagreement with someone else. I have taken apart least 5 93-96's with the same results. Those whom are parting out cars can verify. If you do have a two speed fan you need to check the part number, it's probably a thuinderbird of cougar fan assembly. Here is what i am basing my facts on.
