K so here is my problem.:shifty:

I changed all my spark plugs about 9 months ago.

And Today 9 months later.... My check engine light came on. Obvisouly because of a missfire. I got it tested and it was cylinger 3.

I then changed the spark plug in cylinder 3. and put here back together. Then The next day I had a missfire in cylinder 5. So I then took her back apart again and replaced all the spark plugs cause they are all under warrenty. The spark plugs did have carbon on the plugs, I believe cause I did uses cheap gas during that month when gas was $3 a gallon. I know it was stupid though. But they all got replaced Today

I then started the car with all the new plugs and the dang thing is still ideling rough and engine shakes. I did reset the Computer and the check engine light has not came back YET.

I also did replace one of the ignition coils in cylinder 5 as it was enlarged due to the heat and oil in the chamber at the time. I did tighten the head bolts down and there has not been any more oil in that chamber.

I have no clue what to do next.

I did order 4 more ignition coils at $38 a piece. Going to replace all the ones that look bad.

Info about my car is below.

2000 Lincoln LS
3.9L V8
91000 miles mostly Highway.

Someone please help!!!!!!!

why don't you just take it to the dealer???

and your coil in #5 is probably bad now. do a search for "coil" you'll find a gazillion posts.

It is probally a bad coil, depending how bad the motor shakes it could be more than one..... I had few go out on my SHO. I have replaced about 5 on my SHO. I am thinking of getting couple on hand for the LS soon, as spares.

I know Autozone sell replacements. The LS cost less then my SHO COP

Goodluck

Had the same problem with my car #3 and 5 coil and #5 spark plug. The dealer took care of it, however NAPA also sells the coils at a very decent price.

Well I am just going to replace the rest of the 7 coils and if that dosent solve it... Trust me you will here from me. I might be verry pissed off if all thhis dosent work

I found the Coils at $27 a piece @ employee cost.... Thang GOD I have a buddy that works at O Rielys Auto part here in Iowa.

I just went through something similar. After replacing both valve cover gaskets (to stop the oil leaking onto the coils) and six coils she runs like new.

This problem is common to the LS. do the search on "coil" or " misfire" as someone has already suggested.

Good luck

had the same problem..there was water in the coil..dealer sealed it and im good now

I had my ls8 for less than a week and coil 3 went out. then half a month later a solinoid in the tranny and my pcm went bad. and was without the car for a week and a half. talk about bad luck. now that they reset the pcm i have to take it back in because the mpg and how many miles left on the tank is off by about a hundred miles.
