I am throwing a gen 2(97) engine in my 96 and found some parts that are not on my 96 motor. there are the pictures of the 2 sensors or whatever. if anyone knows what these are could you please let me know

i beleive thay are rf filters so you dont get ignition noise

so if that is true the reason they're not on the gen 1's are because gen 2's use coil-on plugs.. and on the coil packs for the gen 1's there is something similar so there's no need for them to be in the back. thanks alot, I appericate it.

I might be mistaken, but they look like the O2 sensor plug ins.

See the pic of this 95 engine...I can see them on this motor:

But not in this picture:

I dont think those are noise supression. The gen 2 IMRC controls are back there, as well as o2 sensor plugs. I am pretty sure it is for the O2's.

You can get a better idea here. This is my 94's flywheel. I can barely make it out, but whatever it is, it is on a Gen 1 as well, so dont "ignore it"

I think he was right. you may think you see them on the back but you could be mistaking. they look exactally the same as the ones on my 96 coil packs, except the 96 starts out with a f6 and the 97 starts out with a f7, but the rest of the part #'s are the same. and even the plastic plug are the same.

This is copied directly from my 1997-1998 Mark VIII service manual CD

"Radio Ignition Interference Capacitors

There are two radio ignition interference capacitors (18801) mounted on the engine. They are located on the rear of the cylinder heads and attached with a single screw."

Radio Frequency Interference Suppression Bond Assembly

One end of the radio frequency interference suppression bond (19A095) (ground strap) is attached with a nut to the right engine mount stud. The other end is attached to the side of the frame with a screw."

does this sound like what you see?
