Hi community I need some major assistance, on finding out the part number and name for item 2 in the diagram below. This part broke on me on 4/18 as I was driving heard a loud pop and then several after until I reached the mechanic. My mechanic stated that he could get one from a salvage yard or order one from ford at a higher cost. Of course I want to get one myself even if it comes from a salvage yard or if I order it online. I need to get this done as soon as possible given that this is my daily car. So in the below diagram I need to know the part name and part number for item #2 in the diagram. Also I need this for the right rear. I have a 2001 LS Base V8. If you guys know of a website I can buy this part only or any info would be great. I have found that you can buy the whole assembly but I do not need the entire assembly just that one part. Thanks guys!

If I get the part from a salvage yard I have a tool set but the center nut what size is that? I know I would need a breaker bar as I do not have an portable air compressor to take to get these bolts off. Thanks again guys.

This is the link to the workshop manual. It is for model 2006 and I don't know whether there are changes in suspension parts between your 2001 and 2006. http://deneau.info/ls/

The drawing in the rear suspension exploded view shows this as #8, P/N 5A968, Wheel Knuckle and Wheel Hub Assembly.

You may want to Google "2001 Lincoln LS service manual" and see what's available. I don't know if service manuals for Gen 1 are posted somewhere in this forum.

I have a workshop cd that includes all ford models from 2000-2003 including the gen1 LS, if you need I can research the information and post it when I get home.

Pretty sure I've replaced this on my LS and got an aftermarket part. This was about 3-4 years ago, been fine since. Not sure if that's possible on Gen I, but shop around.

I replaced mine two years ago with a pair from a salvage yard (guaranteed) for around $100-$150, can't rember the exact price; Luckily they worked good (the bearings were in good shape and quiet); I also could not afford the new ones, you would never know if you rode in my car . I'll check back to find the yard I used and post back;
Everthing else i have bought since has been new (especially suspension, cooling, etc.) My opinion only and it happened to work out for me on the knuckles.

I found this part called a local salvage yard and they took the part of the car for me! Total cost $50+tax about $54 in all, I was so relieved that I was able to find the part and even better it was not $700+. So I will see how this turns out once its on and I have a chance to drive it around!

Thanks a lot everyone for your help in getting this part number information.

Recommend a four wheel alignment once you got it in. The rear toe adjust would make the difference, if it wasn't turned, you should be alright, however for the little money spend, an alignment is never a bad idea.
