sup guys, i drive a 2000 licoln ls v6 5spd with 91000 miles

i change the oil every 2k with mobile 1 full synthetic.

i replaced all the o2 sensors, i need new cats. what ones to buy?

magnaflow high fllow obdII?

my local muffler shop is gonna cut the old ones off and weld the new one in im not sure what ones to get..

please help

why do you change your oil every 2000 miles, and your even using synthetic!

thats nuts, id save your money and do it every 5000 miles. that is unless you can afford it ;)

as for cats, siamese are cool....lol

didn't know there were aftermarket options for this. isn't the x pipe integrated into the cats???

well i work at a local garage, so all my oil changed are free.

the cat i wanna get is not a factory. i want to get a magnaflow cat one for each side, just cut and weld.

i came here looking for answers, not jokes.

im only 19 and need this info asap, im aveaging 12 mpg

dont weld in aftermarket cats, they wont work right.

you know your car has 4 cats right?

2 on the right and 2 on the left.

it goes exhaust manifold bolted to cat section (has 2 cats), then a slip joint into the tailpipes back to the mufflers.

I would just replace them with factory if they are indeed bad. Why do you ''need'' them.

i suspect you are getting 12 mpg caues your 19 with a heavy foot? ;)

Jay

if it makes you feel better, according to my communication center, i only get 16mpg, even when im light on the foot.

and the cats was a joke, lighten up.

yeah man you are new to this forum, and it seems pretty new to your LS as well. there's a lot of knowledge here so stick around, but show a little respect, some of these guys could teach you a thing or two about cars.

i am 20 with a heavy foot. i just bought an 03 lsV8 and i'm getting 20+ mpg in the city (when i have good control of my heavy foot of course). but sounds like u do have some kind of problem, exhaust or otherwise. i don't know how much u know, but if u think it is an exaust problem, i would think its the cats too.

well, i called the dealer this morning, they said that there wouldnt be a problem cutting those cats and welding new ones, im going to get the magnaflow obd II compliant hi flow cats.

the car does not have 4 cats, it has 2 cats, 2 resonators, and 2 mufflers. has anyone else changed just the cat??
i also need a new transmission cuplouling this will be my 3rd one

Not on the subject but I like your screen name.....you could have BS'd a little and put fast instead slow.....:D I have the 5spd as well 00' with 82k and I have had every problem listed on this forum with my LS, But I get great MPG's. I have the intake and custom 2.25" with duraflow turbo's(or something like that) and magna-flow tips, so that may help out. You should just put up the cash and get a new exhaust put on while your under there....

AFAIK, factory cats are the only ones available. I had to have one replaced on my V6 about 18 months ago (don't ask :frown: ). I called around to all the muffler shops and none were available. Magnaflow did all the prototyping for the V6 cat back system on my LS about 4 years ago (I got a free system for losing the car for 2 weeks :dancefool : ). I asked their flow engineer then if a higher flow cat would be worth the cost. He said "NO" as the LS already had a pretty high flowing cat. IMHO, just go with the factory cats (and yes, the V6 has just one for each bank) and you won't have to worry about fitment or any other issues. BTW, IIRC, I paid ~$500 for the cat. I'm sure Bill Jenkins at www.teamfordlv.com could get a better price.

well the local muffler shop said that all i need is a cat with an 02 inlet and obd II compliant. im ordering the cats still debating which ones and will be put on in the next few weeks,

im also going to be replacing my front bearing of the transmission, the trannsmission driveshafter coupling, and ordering a cold air intake (i already modded the box). any other suggestions guys?

what ekse could i do for this thing to run smoothly

Uh, all LS models are 5-speeds. Or do you mean something else?
