Hi

The previous owner of my car sell the car to me with only one key + the remote for the alarm. Were and how can i order a second key + remote ... just in case i lost the first one.

Thanks.

You'll need to buy the specific remote you are missing (1 or 2) and you probably could find it on ebay. As for the key, you might be able to find a blank on ebay, but it will need cut.

In both situations you'll also need to have the units programmed to your car. This can be done at the dealership but I'm sure there are procedures on here or online somewhere to how you do it yourself.

The cutting of the key can be done at any place that has the equipment (ie locksmith).

The Remote you can program yourself. The key is another story because you only have one. The dealer will have to program your 2nd key. You need 2 programmed keys to program any keys yourself. I would definitely get 2 spares if I were you...

It is VERY easy to program the keys once you have 2 programmed keys. It is also VERY easy to program the remotes yourself.

I got my replacement key at the local Lincoln dealer for $20, got my remote on ebay for $10.

I think you can have up to 8 keys and 4 remotes programmed at the same time.

When you say remote for the alarm, is it the ford factory remote with the switch on the back or is it a aftermarket alarm?

edit:
The exact guy I bought my remotes from:
I bought mine a few months ago and he had #1's and #2's...

it's the OEM alarm remote, with the On/Off recall button on the back of the remote.

we have many locksmiths around here that sell blank keys , and they can cut it using my original key. that wouldn't be a problem. i thought the key has a chip inside it (i had that kind of chip inside the key on my last bmw).

well , i've looked on ebay and i didnt found any remote yet. i will keep looking on ebay and if i find any i will go to some local car security shops around here maybe then can program it for me... we dont have a Lincoln dealership here :)

@ebedoun: oh sorry i didnt saw the ebay link you gave me in your post. yep , it seems i've made a wrong search on ebay. i will contact the guy asap to get a set of 2 remotes for my car, if he decides to accept Western Union :) i dont have Paypal and i cannot sign up for Paypal, Romania it's restricted there...

bad news. i've read the ebay add for a second time to make sure it's what i'm looking for , and the seller says:

Shipping, payment details and return policy
Shipping Cost Services Available Service Transit Time Available to
US $3.95 US Postal Service First Class Mail® Estimated delivery 2-9 days United States only

Will ship to United States, Canada.

seems i dont have any luck today...

the key does have a chip. Look around for the mark VIII remote, I think it will work for the continental too. If you do find one for the mark, I will see if my marks remote works on my continental and I will tell you the results.

well , i will take the risk and buy those 2 from ebay after all.

tomorrow i will make myself an US Address using www.myus.com service, i hope to be real :) and if my address will be functional this week i will buy those from ebay.

wish me luck :p

The key is about $100 I thought from the dealer. Maybe the generic version is $20. It will need to be programmed as mentioned above.

I bought my OEM Lincoln key from Stu Evans Lincoln Mercury for $20, it was supposed to be $40, but he gave me a deal.
