Need Some Chicago Help!!!

I have a friend who is going to head to Grand Rapids, Michigan on Friday. He wants to know the best route around Chicago and the best time.

He'll be heading from Madison, WI...

I told him I'd drop down I-39 and skip Chi. then head west on I-80 and skip the Chicago traffic as he told me he'd be going through Chicago around 6 pm on Friday.

Now he's thinking of hitting Chicago between 2 or 3 pm ...

What do you suggest ... go down I-39 or take one of the loops around Chi-town.

when I go...in a big truck, I would go 90-290-294-80..

39 to 80 is alot of miles out of the way...unless he doesn't care, most of the time 94 and 55 are the worst...290 and 294 flows pretty good.

OK .. Thanks ... I've just been in the area so many time and been stuck in traffic ... there was a lot of construction the last few years and I got stuck sitting.

So if they have things flowing better then he'd be fine.
