So I had a ball joint replaced over the summer by a guy I've known for a few years that owns his own shop. Before I brought it in, I thought it was just the outer tie rod on the right front, which I replaced. Upon lowering it back down and driving it, the symptoms I had earlier were extremely worsened, I was scared to drive it. Thats when I brought it to this guy. He replaced the ball joint and every things been fine until 2 days ago. So I brought it back because it sounded like the same ball joint is bad again.
Sure enough, it's bad. But after looking at the front end hes telling me they had replaced the left ball joint, not the right. He says the left ball joint looks "brand new", and that the rubber on it is blue, which he says tells him it's a moog part, which he states he used. Myself, I've never purchased a moog part that had blue anything on it. I even have a new moog ball joint in the trunk, and nowhere is there blue on it...
So just to make sure, I go and check the receipt, sure enough it says P/S lower ball joint, not once but twice. He's still insisting he must have made a mistake when writing the receipt...
I vividly remember the horrible sounds my car was making when I first brought it in, all coming from the right front of the car. He's convinced they never touched the right side. Now I'm waiting for a call back when they have my car up in the air again. This is ridiculous.
So I guess I'm posting because I'm confused and wanted to share this bull**** that's been going on. Have any of you seen a moog ball joint that uses blue rubber? What color should the oem rubber on the various suspensions bushings be? I do remember seeing the blue something on the left front of the car, but can't remember if that was before or after I had work done at this shop. Anyway, thanks for reading. I appreciate any input.
