Well finally got hit with problems on my 2000 LS V8 Sport

Have had it over a year with no problems but a window motor fix.

But now i am in need of a trani,, lost 2nd n 4th.

Dealer told me 2700$ to fix. Reman

Trani shop wants 1900$ to rebuild with 1 yr warranty. and re doo the torque converter.

still pricey,, andyone have a trani for sale?

Any info would be great,,cause this sucks,,lol

I have noticed my tranny doesnt shift into D4 any more. Is that a bad signal for future problems because otherwise it drives fine?

I know its best to drive in D5,, so no real need to be in D4.

I just put in a used tranny with 19K miles on it. Cost me $650. A lot of work, but fun. I trust a low mileage used tranny a lot better than one coming out of these rebuild shops. I've had tranny's rebuilt before and things were never quite right.

I strongly disagree. When you're around town, I believe it's always best to be in 1:1 (D4). No need to let the trans keep shifting back and forth out of overdrive. I also believe that the same clutch pack or band that applies overdrive is used for second gear too. I think that's why you see failures of those two gears. Leave it out of OD except when on the highway.
