Hi all you Mark VIII guys .. I have a question . My mother-in law has been storing a 1995 Lincoln Mark viii Limited for years in a barn . It is the kind with a silver exterior and a black cloth? roof, wire spoked wheels ; from afar it looks OK and it was driven into the barn years ago ... but.. I saw that the black leather is all moldy and to me the car should be junked .It is a health hazard. I do not think it could come near to passing a safety . MY mother-in-law believes it is worth something . We are in Ontario and there are not many around .This car was originally bought in the USA... Please give me your candid opinion

With about 2 days worth of cleaning the leather and floor with a foamy mold cleaner killer, then rub out the paint with du pont number 7 to get the dead paint off, and another coat over the rubbed out paint with your favorite wax, this car could look like new again. If the cars lights and brakes work and you can pass an emmissions test , keep the car and put a for sale sign in it asking 1995.00, Your mother in law 's opinion is correct. Junking it its worth 250-350 but does it have rust holes in the body or not?Suggest you buy a polisher for 30.00 from Harbor frieght so it will make polishing a brezze

The surface mold is somewhat common on cars that aren't touched for a while, likely years. Heck, some my spare interior parts in my unheated garage have some surface mold, wipes right off. If it can be safely driven with a little work then no, it should not be parted out.

Perhaps you should take some pictures and share them with the community so that we can get a better idea of its condition.

Not all mold is dangerous. Clean it off. I had a project car that sat for a couple years, same issue. Cleaned up easily and it all looks great again.

The odds that the mold present is toxic is pretty low. Most mold isn't dangerous at all.
