My mother board broke on my computer so i needed to make a new one. Specs will be amd phenom x2 955 be (going to unlock all four cores) Muskin high per. ddr3 1600 8 gigs, kingwin crystal plug 850watt laser, asus crosshair III formula mother board. Staying with my 260gtx be untill windows 7 and direct x 11 comeout (I lied, i couldn't afford a high end card). Some teaser pics of the case, parts will be here friday :) I hate doing budget builds :(

staying with my raptor X's in raid zero. would have liked to stepped up to velocer's in raid 0, but I couldn't justify (or come up with) the $420 for both when my X's are 66% as fast.

LMFAO, I think i'm actually 55% of your tower looking at the numbers. It's not bad for 700 bucks, needed another 1200 to do it how I would like it, but funds are a little short right now. Maybe the next one.

Did you put carpet on the inside of your clear case? I cant imagine why.

Looks like you have a good build planned out though. Good luck with the upgrade.

If you haven't already, you will love Win7.

The case had 8 120mm holes, 4 hand grip holes, and 2 huge gaps for ventalation. I run a holmes hepa filter to cool it and pressurize the inside of the case, then all the holes are covered with the exception on my selected vents to circulates the air. Air comes in the upper right side flowing over the cpu and memory elimanating any fans in the case, This also creates positive pressure inside of the case where it will remain dust free. Then it is forced out the video card (at 4 times the normal rate the video card can cool itself at 100%) and under the motherboard, then flowing over the harddrive heat sinks and exiting out the back of the power supply. My mock up was all duct tape to get the flow right but the case looked horrible. After I install my power supply and motherboard I will be able to trim and glue the rest of it on. Carpet was the best solution for a permanent fix for my air flow design. Final design will be a clear front all the rest will be carpeted, with cold cathodes in the top half and 5 led strip bars built in the sides to illuminate all the plexi edges, thats why i did not wrap around the front corners. When I get finished, I will post up the pics of the final system so you can see the fit, finish, and functionality of it. Last I had it hooked up with water, my idle and full load temp varied by 4-5C and that was with the holmes filter on the lowest setting.

I always like water systems, but it cluters the inside. I liked the new mineral oil system, but it requires a radiator, pump, and fans. Regular case create nothing but a warm air loop with all the fans pointing every which way, plus they build up dust on the inside. So I'm going for the cleanest open look I can come up with, plus while the computers on the desk, my air filter is 3 feet awany on the cold floor. If I can keep my head in the game to finish the rest with all the detail I have in mind, I should be able to win rig of the month at guru3d. If these damn computer case designers were so smart they would make a case that comes with a seperate air filter to cool the whole case eliminating fans and dust all together.

If I had any know how of the whole designing a case, I would create a case with a 5" intake hole designed to flow thru a case to cool everything, then have it vent out a 2 or 3" hole to create a positve pressure inside with a floor mounted fan/filter unit. You could take the computer building world by storm with mass amounts of air flow that could not be achieved by any amount of fans in your case, and the promise of 100% dust free case. Seeing those morons that think shinny, 12 fans, and lights is better then a well designed airflow case I decided to make my own.

finally finished, i struck out on unlocking all 4 cores (only a 20% chance of unlock on the 955's), but I did get it stable @4.01 Posted pics of it and the build log on guru3d.com. it has to be the most confrontational build yet.
I guess no one has ever made a pressurized case with carpet before, I really messed them guys up with this build.

Nice build. You should have no problem winning at guru3d. Might have to put up a few more detailed pics though.
I do like the forced air and you have done it in a very controlled way. I'm a bit curious why you encased the power wires inside the case with the carpet. That was a bit odd to me but it works with the rest of your build.
I have thought before about putting an actual air filter on a case intake (every time I open my case and see all that dust) but most cases would require too much modding for my taste. You have done quite well.

Do you have any previous builds to show off?

Thanks. I put that stuff on the wires just to see if i could do it. It's more hassle then its worth. 2 cases ago I had the filter hooked up on a full size tower. I canabalized a 120mm fan, cut the whole inside out so my air tube would fit in it. Then just stuck it to the back 120mm hole of the case, worked out great, blew right across the cpu.

Only other pics I can find right now are from my first water system in the torture rack. It was my first time putting everything in it, so it's clutered and not very pretty. I cleaned it up alot 5-6 months ago, moving the pump and all hoses up top and beter wire management, but I can't find the pics of it.

Alright, I remember you posting up pics of that system a couple years back. Pretty impressive with that clear case. Did you submit that one to guru too?

I've priced out several builds lately, from the $2k+ Core i7 build to the $500 3TB home server, to the $300 Home Theater PC. None of them had any customization quite like that.... Have you seen Antec Skeleton case? pretty cool.
Till I get some extra scratch I'll just have to make due with the machines I already have. I have a decent Core2Duo build in my office running Win7RC and my GF's old HP pavillion in the living room running as a HTPC. Counting my netbook I have 3 PCs in the house running 3 different OS. I'm planning to put Win7 on all of them and re-evaluate my desire to build a Home server. We'll see how the networking works with the new OS.

When i built the first one I posted it in dangerden.com's forums. I don't know if guru3d had a rig of the month 2 years ago. I really don't like the guru3d forums. Way to main stream now, and not many people can type in english. I made it just to see how it would look, plus I've never seen anyone atempt it yet. I did submit it for rig of the month, will have to see how it goes, I got hammered for building it by the forum locals, somehow carpet is sack relig for a computer? They may hate it, but they will remember I was the first to do it. lol. Materials cost me a whopping $32, $13 of that being the can of 3m 90 spray glue and about 10 hours of my time.

If you can find a hepa filter for your case you will love it, really quit and I was still dust free in my case after 2 years of running it. Parts I ebayed looked like they were brand new.
