Hi, Roger here. Retired Marine Sniper, hence the handle. Just bought a '96 lsc after a fairly lengthy search, and to be honest, I'm on the forums this quick 'cause it didn't even make the drive home, lol. Thought I got an awful good deal on it... Seller quoted a fairly bad oil leak and a busted driver's seat. The driver's seat made an extended test drive impossible, so i did the check the fluids, bulbs, noises, and bulbs bit, then shelled out about half his asking price. Replaced the busted black drivers seat in his driveway with a $35 grey one from a junkyard. That got me moving in style...but 5 miles later, I was overheating. Stopped at a gas station, and popped the hood, to find a whole mess of frothing oil and coolant coming from the coolant tank. Fearing a blown head gasket, I shut it down and headed out to get my car trailer. Made sure there was oil in crankcase then drove it on trailer. Upon further examination this am, found no water in crankcase, and no vapor on oil fill cap. Did trace the oil lead to the filter mounting plate, and since coolant and oil journals intersect there, I'm about 85% sure I've got a $10 fix on my hands. Downloaded a "how-to" from markvii.org, and looks like an easy fix. Anyway, good to be here, and looking forward to my time here.

What an ordeal..More then likely the adapter as you mentioned though.. Very messy and annoying job from what i've heard. Hope to god mine never blows..Thats one job i'll have done.

Welcome to LVC! I just replaced this gasket a month or so ago and it's not THAT bad. My cousin picked one up with the same problem, only not as bad.
