first of all hello fellow Mark VIII owners out there, maybe you can help *CROSSING FINGERS* i just bought a 1994 White Mark sat, its got a few miles on her and its also got a charging issue. at idle or just about idle it doesnt seem to want to stay charged but if you rev the engine up to about 3k the lights get good and bright, i tried another battery thinking maybe it was bad and the alternator was keeping the car running, it didnt help and actually only shows it charging to 12.3 with the RPMs up.. i always thought when the alternator went it went, maybe im wrong lol :feedback if this has already been posted, im sorry for the double post but i looked and couldnt find it.. thank everybody :)

Ask TractionLESS, he's the resident KNOW NOTHING!!! Whatever he says, do the opposite, and you'll be ok

Damn, we got a hard one for someone right now?

Welcome to the board re-MARK-able! I hope you stay here for the duration of your mark ownership, and maybe even after that. We have some pretty knowlegable people round' here.

Mike

EDIT....Like Geno said, Voltage regulator is on it's way out. R&R the alternator.

thanks for the welcome everybody :) i have peeked at the board alot before i bought my mark so i have seen a few of the good imformative replys that have been on here,, and yes i plan on being around for awhile :) :waving:

Should voltage change at idle with underdrive pulleys on? I'm getting 12.3 v at idle, and it increases with the rpms. I thought that alternators eliminated voltage variations associated with rpms, they supposedly made generators go away because it's supposed to have the same voltage at any RPM....

So is my alt bad???
