Hello!

I'm new here. Bought a 95 Mark viii on Saturday, and have a few questions for the board. The car has 89,000 miles on it, and has the following issues:

1. The computer reads "door ajar" all the time, and won't allow me to see anything without displaying "please close the door". Is there a switch I need to replace?

2. A vibration at speeds above 65mph. Car does not pull left or right. I am guessing wheel balance?

3. Speedo seems to read 10% too fast. Is there a little plastic gear for the speedo sensor that might need to be swapped? It seems to have the correct rims, though I am unsure what the tire size should be. They actually look kind of small. The old SVO catalog had a way to compute rear gear ratio, tire size, and etc to find the right speedo gear. Is it still done this way?

4. Left front corner deflates when parked. Whats the best way to track down a leak?

5. Under slow acceleration, the trans slips when changing gears at about 35,40 mph. I assume its trying to get into OD. If I turn off the OD it does not slip. Any ideas what that might be?

Thanks for any help. I look forward to participating with like minded enthusiasts. In the past I have owned an XR7 Cougar (with 4 cyl turbo) and a t-bird SC. Love these cars, and have wanted a Mark VIII for a while.

First of all :W to :V .

Second get a can of WD40 and spray your door latch. That will end the Door Ajar message.

OME tire size was 16.

I would guess that your left front air bag leaks and will need replacing.

To check it out run the car and get all bags inflated. Go to the trunk and trun off the air ride system. Switch found in door on left hand side of trunk.

If the bags stay up your bags are fine then it is prob a sensor issue. But others on board will help out. There are plenty of vendors who are on board that will off very good advice and have very good products.

As for your tranny I am not sure could need a flush! You should have your 1 2 accumulator changed in your tranny. This is a must!

And change your tranny fluid to Merc V not III.
